It’s not about the budget, just maybe an unfair distrust I have that I can’t help. One thing he has going for him is that he seems to get along with nearly everybody, which makes deals easier

With Mbappe at least, we did go up to 120 million but he wanted to stay in France, there was nothing we could do

It's not really just Txiki though is it?

These transfers usually involve Soriano, Khaldoon, and possibly even Sheikh Mansour too. A high profile deal such as this absolutely would involve the top brass. Txiki would just be the man on the ground.
