Erling Haaland

Well, on paper it comes down to whether they think his contribution next season is worth more than the difference between this season's price and next's. E.g. If they can get £120m for him this season and 75 next, is his contribution to them next season worth the £45m?

In practice, whether the deal will happen will come down to whether he is happy to tell BVB he wants a move. If he is, it will happen, if he isn't, it may not.

What will affect that is the fact that we are only in the market for a number 9 this season. I don't think we'll hold off, even for Haaland. If its not to be Haaland this summer, we'll buy someone else this, because this is the main gap in our team. And we're not going to buy Kane or Lukaku this summer and then Haaland in 12 months.

So it's this summer or never imo. I think we'll get him, but only after a KDB/Wolfsburg type saga.
IMO from their point of view, yes. The CL is worth about 75mil itself depending on how far you go in the competition. Qualifying for the CL next season without him goes down quite a bit especially if they sell Sancho as well. So an extra 45mil now or possibly 75mil later on top of the 75mil release clause? Of course there is a possibility of them qualifying without him and vice versa (not qualifying with him), but I think you keep him because he gives you the best chance to make the top 4 next season.

Said it for ages he’s lined up for lewandowski’s replacement
Bayern have no moral compass when it comes to tapping players up (see Goetze and Lewandowksi) and Lewandowski will probably leave the summer where Haaland has a release clause.

Unless we spunk £120-150m this summer I think he’s going Bayern.

Would it be a big gamble in begiristains eyes

As much as I’d love him, this has got Bayern as a Lewandowski replacement next summer all over it.

They’ll have tapped him up already.
Raiola has already apparently said,he will send him to Bayern next summer if they dont sell this summer....they will sell this coming window, imo.

To me it is clear that Alfie is looking for progression, so I really cannot see him staying in Germany, it will be Spain or the Prem for me. I believe the Haaland's hold the key where he is destined to go, and I personally believe it will be to City. I just don't see us announcing Aguero's departure so early in the season, if we haven't got something lined up in principal.

It would make sense for Dortmund to cash in now but they seem to be playing hardball.

I think they’re cutting off their nose to spite their face

(see Barca not cashing in on messi last summer)

Agree mate....Raiola will push a move through,imo.....he wont settle for half...no chance.
Did'nt he wreck Dortmunds boardroom to get that Mhyki fella his move to the rags?

The Kane news will definitely have an impact, the cogs will be turning!

Does he want to miss our boat? I don't see us signing both.

I’d be interested to know how many of the posters who are really pushing for haaland have watched him more than YouTube clips and the 2 games game against us. Having watched Dortmund quite a lot this year two things really stood out to me re haaland.

Firstly the defending in Germany is absolutely awful and secondly he is extremely raw and is be no means anywhere near the top strikers yet. In my opinion we would be better suited to try and capitalise on the time we have left with pep and sign Kane, he is currently by far the better striker, already dominates the prem and has good leadership skills.

Sign haaland and hope one day he gets to Kane’s level or buy Kane for 5 years fully utilising the time with have left with pep. simple to me

To me (pleasant) surprise, many people here have seen him a lot. I watch Dortmund all the time. I’ve also seen him with his national team and with Salzburg.

This is obviously LOL

Pep historically likes to work with younger players and put his stamp on them. There is nothing he would like more, and energize him more, than bring a raw talent like Haaland, who is identified with this club, and let Pep work his magic and create a new Pep player out of him. I’ve already said here: Pep would make him press like he did at Salzburg and then bring out and develop even further the striker skills he improved at Dortmund. There’s no limit then and nothing would make Pep happier than getting credit for this. Pep would get no credit for whatever Kane did with us.

Haaland already is more of a big game player than Kane.

As an avid watcher of the bundlesliga then surely you realise how bad the defending is at times. Even though I’m a fan of his you just have to look at Werner and havertz to see how hard the transition is to the English game.

Kane goes into every game with the whole team on his shoulders and still consistently performs to a high level. He is third in world football in goal involvements (incidentally don’t see haaland on that list) for this season at a side who is badly under performing. To say Kane is not a big time player is such a lazy narrative. He played injured in two cup finals against sides who where far superior to spurs. It’s like judging Haaland against us he looked very average as we had 80% of possession.

Pep is not a needy teenager scrolling Through Twitter looking for compliments and vindication. He is a serial winner and Kane gives us the best chance to win with whatever time we have left with pep. To think we would target a player just so pep could get some plaudits is laughable to be honest mate.

We will see who pep prefers no doubt in the coming months once our number one target becomes apparent but I strongly suspect it will indeed be Kane.
