Erling Haaland

I don’t get this to be honest. We aren’t owned solely by Sheikh Mansour. We are owned by City Football Group, of which Sheikh Mansour, Silver Lake and China Media Capital have a stake. So on the face of it, to someone who doesn’t understand the intricacies of football finance (me), it seems a lot like owner money?

City have made it clear the money can be used for the benefit of the entire CFG group, which included City, obviously.

I understand that can form operational costs, infrastructure and absorbing costs that can relieve other areas.

If we are saying the money is Sheikh Mansour's and can't be used, he might as well have taken the money directly into his own pocket?

The money is earmarked for the CFG and the improving City and sister clubs.

Won't be for transfers, as others have stated.

My original post was hypothetical, imagine the foaming if CFG loaned City £300m to be paid back over 30 years...

My opinion, nothing more. Messi knows what he wants to do next and that isn't stay at Barcelona. From there, I look at our side I think it is almost impossible City let him go elsewhere.
No chance he stays under Laporta? I’m not saying I believe everything printed but seems like there’s always a chance?

I can tell you United did an off the record briefing last week stating they couldn't afford him and were distancing themselves from an auction.

Ole also stated his belief City were at the front of the queue.

He is well informed on the situation, as it is in United's interests to know the landscape, as they want to sign a striker this summer.

City do not have a problem with the local pack writing we are in for Haaland, and we are very quick to shut down such talk.

We have been speaking to his dad for a few months.

Might be a coincidence, but Pep signed his new deal shortly after the club told him we would be backing him big again.

For me, the more telling coincidence is the lack of urgency to get sergio committed to another year. Fitness or not, there is nooo way the club would be letting it get this late on in the season and risk him getting tempted by another club without a fight, if they did not have ambitions for a replacement in mind. Nothing in that says that replacement is Haaland of course, but i really doubt they don't have someone big in mind.

Yes, we've never actually signed a world class player. We have turned them up into world class players. Haaland, at 20 year old, is already world class, with potential to be super duper world class.
I’m not sure about that.

Aguero was regarded as one of the best young strikers in the game (much like Haaland is now) and you could argue the likes of Tevez, Yaya and KDB were world class prior to joining us.

For me, tevez maybe, along with the the billboard sentiment. But being honest, neither yaya nor kev, at the time we signed them, gave me the 'oh my we've bagged a worldie' buzz. Obviously, i was wrong. But thats just the point, they weren't obvious star level signings.

I mean look at the reaction of Merson and that mob from sky going on about how expensive kev was and he wasn’t worth it. I know they know fuck all but goes to show the reaction at the time
