Erling Haaland

The problem is sometimes its not just about cash... maybe Haaland prefers London or the Chelsea project - who knows... you can't obtain all your targets no matter how many resources you have. We certainly seem to be a long way down the road on plan B - so plan A cant be looking overly hopeful but it doesn't mean things wont change again; its a fluid situation but I think we are more likely to sign Kane than Haaland i would think... equally if Chelsea blow circa €200m on Haaland - that's their business - think I'd take Grealish and Kane for a similar outlay.

Chelsea built a whole new first team with £200m last summer, with 5 of the 6 new signings starting in the Champions League final. As fantastic as Haaland is, I shudder at thought of spending all of that on just one player. No club should be going anywhere near Haaland at that price and I certainly hope Chelsea aren't stupid enough to take the bait.

True.

But how much of that revenue goes to service that debt? For all the noise from the swamp the rags can easily service the Glazer's debt and then some, I get the impression that's not the case with Barca and Real.

In the transfer market cash is king for all the talk of creativity.
If you look at the Glazer's debt, it was crazy in the years after they took over, but football finances have gone crazy since. Where they had to pay credit card rates of interest, they're now on pretty stable long term deals.

Banks aren't worried that Barca or Real will stop qualifying for the Champions League, or drop back into the La Liga pack. They are probably in a sticky patch, but I can't see the debt spiralling - after all they could operate at City's financial levels and still have £200m a season left over. That services a hell of a lot of debt.

Please stop taking the 200M story seriously

The way I see it is Haaland would be the cherry on the top for either City or Chelsea.

If we get Kane instead that’s fine. What we cannot do is baulk at fees our rivals are willing to pay. It would be a disastrous transfer window if Chelsea get Haaland, scum get Sancho and we end up with someone like Ings and just hoped Sterling might rediscover his form and Torres suddenly became a prolific goal scorer.

We simply must get a proper replacement for Aguero, particularly as Pep has often lamented at how many chances we miss, and with Khaldoon’s statement about signing only a few of true ‘quality’. I sincerely hope the club don‘t believe Ings or some relative unknown in Spain/Portugal are of the quality required.

We cannot stand still while our rivals seriously strengthen. We have to occasionally spend the money to make a real difference.

We‘d make that back in commercial deals, tv money and a CL and title double. Which is very likely with this team if we added a world class striker.
I was messing mate......don't see us paying 200m for anyone, imo.
Also, imo,Raiola would move him on before we made anywhere near £200m.

Not any world class striker, though. If we let Chelsea get Haaland, basically everything we have been building towards could be in jeopardy. I sound dramatic, but I genuinely believe that

Dramatic but if Haaland goes there they will be a major and serious contender if they are not already.

There are two potentially available world class strikers. At the very best, we’ll get one of them. If we do, and we‘re not up for a dogfight, there’s something wrong with us.

It’s the sort of problem any other set of supporters could only dream of.

So yes, you do sound dramatic.
