Erling Haaland

I think it could be a case of who blinks first, if no one moves for him this year I don’t think we will either, I just think with Covid everyone maybe bar us are strapped for cash, Barca, Madrid are skint by all accounts and if they start a bidding war we would win. If no one goes for him it could play into our hands the following season, activate his buy out clause, drop the Sancho money and we will be front runners, just depends if he wants to come and his scumbag agent
From a Haaland point of view it makes perfect sense to wait a year his clause would probably give him his pick of clubs, not to mention a stronger personal financial package with the fee at 60mill.

I’ve said this multiple times in this thread: he will leave Dortmund at the end of this season. Even their decision not to hire a permanent manager is indicative of that. There isn’t a scenario in which he stays. They will milk whatever they can get before the clause kicks in, even if it’s less than they expect

I have heard from a pretty good source that we will not be signing Haaland. In fact the source said there are no plans at all to sign a new forward.

So I wouldn't get your hopes up, i rarely ever post what my source says, but he has never once been wrong.

Don't ask who it is either, i will not say, i trust the man and he is a good fella whose company I enjoy,

That’s the most disappointing thing I think I’ve ever read on this forum, if true.

We desperately need a prolific striker, given Aguero’s age and his frequent absences through injuries. Even if Jesus was prolific we can’t go into next season with just him as an available striker, the amount of games we play that would be ridiculous.

Even Pep has bemoaned our finishing and our poor penalties, I cannot believe the club don’t think we need to sign a prolific and reliable striker. It’s arrogant and complacent and almost negligent to think we don’t need one.

Not only that, if we did get Haaland (ideally) or even Kane then those extra goals they’d provide from the amount of chances we create every game that Sterling, Mahrez, Bernardo frequently cock up then we’d be almost unstoppable!

This summer would be the ideal time to get Haaland before that release clause kicks in and sparks an even bigger bidding war for his services based on wages offered, and agent’s palms greased. Plus, scousers seem to be imploded, rag shit already stacked with forwards and Chelsea probably not making CL this season, there would never be a better opportunity to buy him. If we don’t we’ll regret It even more than not replacing Vinny soon enough.

Do you think he would waste a year of his career not playing in the Champions League?

Definitely. A clinical striker could give us the CL. Sterling against Lyon for example.

We're almost the complete team, we have quality and depth absolutely everywhere. However, a top striker would make us the best team in the world (if we aren't already).

I don't know. That's the point none of us do. It isn't impossible. It also hasn't happened yet that they haven't qualified. Anyone thinking they know what he or more particularly we will do in the summer is a fool that hasn't learnt a thing from our previous summers.

I can’t read his mind but I have a pretty strong guess that right now playing and competing for the UCL title is his biggest goal, and he wouldn’t stand not playing it for a season. I have seen him in interviews speak passionately about that competition, and you see how he shines in it even more than he shines in the Bundesliga. Right now it doesn’t look like Dortmund will qualify. They could, yes, but even if they do, he would probably have the feeling that they wouldn’t come anywhere near the title again

He should know now which club he wants which clubs wants him.

for certain players. That was around the limit for a DM, and a CB. Strikers are more expensive. We were happy to pay £50M-ish for Sterling 5 years ago. KdB the same. I would not be surprised to see a £100M-ish signing this summer.

We were willing to pay £120m for Mbappe before he chose PSG.

We even offered £40m for the same player when he had hardly played a game and was still in the reserves at Monaco.

I haven't a clue but can easily see a scenario where we don't sign Haaland or any striker. If we signed Messi, if Aguero extended 2 years, I could quite easily see us going some games with no centre forward so wouldn't want a centre forward that expects to play every week, which would probably rule Haaland out.
As I said I have no idea, but I wouldn't be posting not a chance with any great confidence.
No way is Aguero signing for 2 years unless he makes some sort of Lazarus recovery.

That was a very serious injury at his age, he has hardly played for 12 months.

I agree, but from what i was told false nine is here to stay. Foden, is being groomed for the role, with Sterling and Jesus as alternatives.

The more you speak, the harder it is to believe. There is no way a serious club will come out and say “we didn’t hire a striker because we will play with a false nine”. This is not only laughable but also ultimately unbelievably ignorant about the language of football and Pep’s tactical vision

Utter bullshit. Doubting the source not you by the way.

If we can get Haaland then we will do. If he’s not available then I could see us waiting a year but it won’t be because we don’t want a striker that we don’t get one.

ive only just seen @Rascal post, but i reckon his sources are right and here's why.

think people are going to be disappointed , but in the long run happy , i think sergios replacement is already at the club .

Watch the tactics, watch the movement, watch the ability of these players we have and how we use them, pep demands each player first works his bollox off,has excellent ball control and passing, stays in the positions until its time to move, all our players bar a couple are what you call intelligent footballers, disciplined players, they know where and when to move, why they need to do it at the right time and why they shouldn't at another time , we aren't looking for the typical forward, we are looking for a forward that is happy on the left ,right and middle and also dropping deep, if haaland can do that then yes he's the man, i haven't seen enough of him,
the man i say is already at the club is torres, i said at the start of the season i saw something in him, his finishing is calm, he has a bit to go yet but imo he will replace sergio eventually, our team isn't about having a 20 goal a season forward, its about control movement and possession , people have noticed that players are better the season after they join us, weve seen it with a few players ,torres, has been brought in to learn the system in the first year in preparation for next season, maybe we will keep sergio on for another season, maybe we will still go for messi, who imo would absolutely destroy the prem in our system, but for me torres is the man the are looking at.

I’ll respect and consider his opinions whenever I find they’re valid and meaningful, just as I will of someone who joined yesterday. But “I heard through the cousin of the neighbor of a friend of a guy who knows someone that cleans Txiki’s place that we’re not signing a forward” is rubbish. Too much for me, sorry
He didnt say that though did he...you are hugely elaborting to fit your own narrative.....He said he had a source that was it.
I hope he is wrong and accept what yuo ahve said as well as why his source may have said what he did...but Rascal doesnt bullshit...if that is what he has been told then he isnt making it up...could he and his surce be wrong...of course they could..there is so much disinformation out there nowadays on al topics its almost impossible to sift through the bullshit to find the truth.

But a forum is about opinions and discussion and people genuinely get different information on the same subject and believe it to be truthful....just as you said some of hte other posters on here believe we are in for him at least (and I hope they are right.)

Ro conclude his opinons are as valid as anyones...doesnt mean he will be right

You don’t have any say in the matter. We’re not going to not sign a striker just in case Torres becomes a world beating centre forward next season.

People are forgetting, it’s super important to improve the team the summer after winning the league title. You need top tier recruitment to keep the ball rolling and keep things fresh.
