Erling Haaland

Haha, you compared Haaland to Andy Carroll, and reckon he'd be soon sussed out based on the 2 games vs City. 2 games in which he was starved of any ball, and was a lone striker. If his hold up play was poor, or if he missed a couple of good chances you might have an argument, but non of that happened vs City. As for abuse, read your own posts and the language you use.

First you have an uncalled for pop at me for my having the audacity to have an opinion that differed from yours. Then you deliberately misquote me in an attempt to justify your dink behaviour.
You exaggerate like a pantomime dame and you do so with the bravado that comes from sitting behind a keyboard. You’re a bad joke.

No I don’t think you’re missing something as clearly he his a huge talent. I’m just not sure at the moment he is worth the figures being mentioned.

I made a big post a few pages back trying to explain to people that the reason he is “worth” a lot of money isn’t just his immense talent, but the fact that he will bring to our success the global commercial returns we should be getting. When Real Madrid was the best team in the world a few years back, they were making an enormous amount of money. When Barcelona was that brilliant team, same thing, the money was insane. PSG with their stars now makes rivers of cash. With a star of global impact like him, we will start making so much more money than we already are and whatever the investment on him will be now will quickly pay itself back. That’s why I am very confident that the club will not allow itself to be outspent for this deal — ESPECIALLY in the current environment. We may not be “chosen” by him, but it won’t be because of money. When people mention that we backed away from deals such as Alves and Jorginho and imply that we would do the same if a “bidding war” came, they’re missing the point: those players, with as much talent and qualities as they had, did not present the commercial potential Haaland does. You could have picked similar players as those that would fulfill similarly the team’s needs. With Haaland, only Mbappe in the same age bracket right now shows the same commercial potential (and I guarantee you the club has conduct market research about this)

Honestly I don’t understand the critcism of Haaland on here?

Sure he didn’t score but how many goal scoring opportunities or chances did he miss? How many chances did we create but not finish?

He was playing in a side which arguably was weaker in every position than there opposition (us), they played in there own half for most of the two legs and he had zero support, supply (without Sancho), facing one if not the best defensive unit in Europe.

Haaland imo is a more tradition CF / goal scorer, though he was involved in the setup of both goals (which I loved to see) in reality he needs his team to create the chances for him which they simply didn’t do, but let’s be honest we would! His goal scoring figures at all levels are simply insane (at his age what player has ever compared), sure he can improve his all round game but he’s 20 he will improve (though I actually thought his all round game holding up the ball, laying it off and creating chances was good over the two legs)!

On price in current COVID environment and with a €75m release clause the following year I’d hope to pay less than €150m but honestly I don’t see many comparable options open to us, Kane is significant older (and no cheaper) and players with very average goal scoring stats are being quoted over €100m.

He’s the player I want this summer as I honestly believe he takes us to that next global level, I like his fathers connection to our club, that he is a supporter And I think currently we’re in a dance with his agent & Dortmund to agree a fee, I’m glad he didnt score against us in CL and I’m ok if he doesn’t fire Dortmund into a champions league position in their league as this forces Dortmund's hand and strengthens ours.

However much he costs I honestly don’t care as it’s not my money and if our club believes they can afford the fee (whatever it is) I’m fine with that. I think we have to be aware Haaland has a global appeal, is potentially one of the 2/3 players of his generation and will cost as we’re not the only club attracted to him because the commercial payback having such players is substantial.

Whatever happens I trust my club, but equally looking forward to buying a haaland shirt in sky blue this summer!

Every time he gets the ball he looks dangerous, sure the goal chances didn't really arrive but he frightened the life out of Stones and Dias with his strength, power, and hold up play - he brings others into attack brilliantly as their goals over the two legs proved.
He would be amazing here with the opportunities we create, while giving us that much needed, missing, presence up front.

His interaction with our players, again over both legs, suggested he fancies the move IMO.
thought exactly the same.....he seems on very good terms with Foden....and he seemed to make a bit of a bee-line towards KDB (Probably thinking what it would be like to be on the end of some of those KDB crosses ad passes!!).

When he first signed for Dortmund it was reported quite early that he had a €75m release clause in 2022. When more and more sources started to claim that City is the frontrunner for Haaland, that price suddenly skyrockets. A couple weeks ago the media said he had a 100m release clause that could only be triggered if the club pays it in one payment. Last week Dortmund suddenly wanted around 150m and then 180m a couple days later. Same thing with his wages. From initially matching KDB and Raz`wage to then 600k and then 1m. If you look at the sources it`s typically sources close to Barca (who can`t afford a pot to piss in) and the rags. All these conflicting stories sound to me like clubs distancing themselves from the transfer because they know he doesn`t want to play for them, and clubs will throw out fake numbers to blame it all on money

Personally I think Dortmund would be foolish to reject an offer of €100m plus waiving the Sancho sell on clause (which is probably worth 15m). That`s pretty much rejecting a 40m one-year loan fee (+wages of the book). I think he`s definitely worth that fee. The likes of Joao Felix, Coutinho, Griezmann and Dembele were all sold for around 100m or more.

Since moving to Dortmund he has 49 goals and 13 assists in 53 games. In his first 14 UCL appearances he has scored 20 goals, Ronaldo had scored none. Quickest ever player to score 20 UCL goals. He`s the best young striker in the world by a mile and he also happens to be a City fan. What`s not to like?

We have no security of match-day revenues next season.

We need visibility on that. The corollary of that are distressed player sales from other clubs. That would point you elsewhere...

I have watched him run in to protect team mates during scuffles so many times. He goes in really aggressively normally. With Gundo he almost looked like he was mindful not to upset him. I wonder why :)
Yeah, noticed that too. It was almost as if he was trying to keep Gundog out of trouble.

Respect for an ex dortmund player.

And Gundo, despite his soft vocal tones is hard as fuck ;-)

Had a great game, but that is the norm with zinc ,as for motm, kev, gundo and foden in that order for me ,a fraction infront of the back four

Fair enough re motm. My underlying point stands though, zinchn put in a great performance and getting his shirt isn't weird.
