Erling Haaland

What I noticed in the CL final was the physicality of Chelsea..Pep will always go for more speedy ,nimble, skillful players, as that is his modus operandi, and frankly it has served us well.. equally Pep is not stupid, he has changed the team dynamic and strenghtened the defence appropriately..When I watched the final I compared City to the great Holland team of the 70s..got to world cup finals ,beautiful football, but never quite made it.
I will never purport to know better than Pep, but as this is a forum where we express opinions, I would say that Haaland would give so much more to this team, simply looking at age, physicality,injuries..probably equally with Kane, natural goal scorers. For the same price, Haaland for me, but will not cry if we get Harry.
Great post.

Just because we lose out to other sides, doesn't mean we don't go in at all. We have been in for plenty of players, that ended up at other clubs over a little bit more money.

Probably right about Bayern, moreso than us, but I don't follw their activity enough to know.

Actually Bayern is pretty boring for all the transfer enthusiastants as they hesitate to pay big money or pay for overpriced players. In difference to other top clubs. They do not go in debt for players...

They probably will ride the Müllendowski train as long as possible. Both do not seem to decline but get better like wine - but somewhen it has to end. Maybe in three years.

They outbid clubs often when they want to. For javi garcia, hernandez etc. But generally they find clever ways of tapping up players to get them at the ends of contracts, or come up with odd loan arrangements.

Does anybody has any idea ITK or not , what happened here. From daily rumours about him wanting to come to us, the exchange between him and Foden to suddenly not a whisper.

It is very interesting and I am for once, very curious to know
Caveat: I am NOT ITK!

City generally don’t do their work in the press, but when you are replacing Agüero, there are bound to be a few world class names associated with us.

Playing Dortmund allowed that narrative to hit warp speed….then fall away when Pep said we couldn’t afford him!

Then, all eyes went to Kane. Spurs didn’t make Top 4, everyone thinks he’s leaving, he’s intimated he wants to leave, he has said KDB is a dream player, he’s English, he’s the England Captain, there’s a focus on him this off-season due to Euros AND Spurs are managerless, so he may be a bargaining chip…either for transfer funds to use or to stay and provide a guarantee of 20 goals, etc, etc, etc…

City will let us know when they have picked a player, made a deal, and secured the signature. Oh, and be prepared for it to be someone who may have been mentioned but not focused on!

Can look at it two ways.

1) Haaland got sick of all the press and circus around any move and shut it all down, he has made his decision and thats it, the clubs will do a deal and its done. No need for the the tour around Europe.

2) Haaland is staying, Raiola and his dad feel another 12mths at Dortmund is better for him and next summer Dortmund get 70 odd mil and Raiola and the Haaland family pocket the rest.
It was also reported that Dortmund's CEO said he wouldn't be sold this summer for under €150m. He may be bluffing but he said the same thing last year about Sancho.

Every year there's a player that City are heavily linked with early that just doesnt get done. Koulibaly, Jorjinho, Sanchez, Cavani, Isco (a few times), Messi - hell let's go all the way back to DDR. The links are so strong we're mocking them up in sky blue shirts and fantasizing about team sheets.

Then City buy someone else far later in the summer. Half the time it works out and half the time it's egg on their face. Haaland seems destined for this bucket of players rather than one that actually gets over the line. The question for me now is Kane also headed here

Agree think it will be someone not mentioned, jsut think Kane and Haaland will be out of reach financially this year. Bad timing with Aguero going out to buy a traditional centre forward and thinking we'll make do with Torres / Jesus and our goalscoring mids. Grease the wheels for Haaland next year, we'd be unstoppable.

We were never heavily linked with Haaland. We’re heavily linked with Kane. It’s Kane that fits the profile you’re describing. If we’re working on Haaland, it’s being done quietly— which is how it would work out better

We were never heavily liked with Dias or Bernardo, but were with Fred, Sanchez and Koulibaily, this club has a certain way of negotiating, the Haaland speculation has gone to almost silence, in terms of us, thats good.

All the publicity and talk about Kane is not how we do things, in fact after last years capture of Dias, I would look in the opposite direction of Kane, Haaland is the one I would love, but maybe the club have identified another target that is not publicly known.

There aren’t options for strikers that you can just invent at our level. Which means that it is natural that we know who all the possibilities are. Everyone knows who the great strikers in the world currently are

We don't know what Tixki or Pep are thinking or considering.

Pep see's things in players than very few others do.

Torres is a player I can see becoming a serious striker for us, maybe we go for Silva or Felix as the players we bring in to replace Kun.

I mentioned Dias earlier a CB we were only briefly linked with, yet despite all the media focusing on Kouibaily/ Jules Kounde yet those deals did not happen, smoke and mirrors, this club are expert at!

CB’s are a different story. Strikers need to score goals. So what you have to do is look at the main leagues and see who are the top scorers in those. It sounds simplistic, but it’s inescapable. A UCL finalist won’t sign for the replacement of its biggest idol a nobody or a flop. It has to be someone scoring lots of goals right now in a major league. That’s not all there is to it, but it’s something you can’t escape. There are no obscure names.

Silva is Ings is, they could be the ones, even Felix.

I do hope we get Kane or Haaland but it would not shock me if we went leftfield.

André Silva isn’t obscure. He sometimes plays for Portugal and scored a lot of goals in the Bundesliga. People are talking about him. João Felix is the opposite of obscure. Danny Ings is a joke and was never linked seriously.

You can’t invent a striker for a top team. That’s the reality. For every other position you can

Agreed, perfectly summed up with the Dias example you gave. Lots of variables in a striker playing in a certain league/team. This is why I see someone like Andre Silva happening. Do get the feeling that its Kane or someone relatively unknown.

I would say if we ended up with Silva and Ings there will be some seriously pissed people on here, same with Felix.

The point I am trying to make is the club don't always look for the Hollywood reputation footballers. Some times we can find slightly leftfield players and make them stars.

I personally hope we break the bank vault open and get Haaland but equally would not be surprised if we just spend 40m on Silva.
