Stats are secondary to what actually happens on the pitch.....David silva besides his assist stats wouldnt be that high..yet for me David Silva is the best ever to play in the prem and certainly for city....better than KDB who was ahead of him. Id say that when playing together Silva was more influential than KDB and we miss his control of a game more than when we miss KDB....

Stats never tell the full story ever yet a are convenient go to for some.

Im not saying they are but that is whta most people pay attention to....even the assists can be misleading.....David Silva was often the person to play the pass before the assist...the through ball to the wide player etc....He dictated the whole game yet this isnt shown in stats

Stats can be very misleading and even though Grelisg's stats are second only to KDB last year Id say their is a chasm in terms of effectiveness, control and influence of game between the two at present.

Correct but facts are facts and with pep as his manager he will improve him.

If you look at more stats than goals and assists... then Silva does come off VERY favourably based on them.

Modern football stats are very good in aiding your "eye test", and would usually just reaffirm what you already know.

On the other end, if your "eye test" doesn't rate a player, yet the overall stats do, then to me that's a good indicator that your "eye test" has failed you.

Often wondered what they would be like if like ice hockey 2nd assist were recorded in football Especially when on night shifts with a hockey obsessed yank that loved his stats.

My point is stats include things like pass completion, passing progression, chances created, "pre-assists", expected assists, expected goals, pressures, take ons, tackles won, duels won, fouls won, distance covered etc. etc. Not just goals and assists. David Silva always had good stats in most relevant categories.

We will pay it for Kane. The money won't be that different. The club have hosen Kane, it isn't for money reasons, imo.
