fucking hell this guy will shit load of goal in next 10 years. he will be the only one who will get close to to crazy goal tallies per season CR and Messi has had over last decade. Lewandowski had couple similar season too to be fair.

whoever brave enough to sign him will do a fantastic deal.
if we stick into Burnley imo he would still score a shit load there as well.

the step up from Salzburg/Austrian league to Dortmund/Bundesliga did not even cause any challenge for him.

wonder he was ever on our radar while at Molde and what was the reason we never made a move for him. also its very clever way of building him up to learn his trades at Salzburg then he could have gone to very strong clubs but chose another stepping stone club at Dortmund which is a great club for young players to get a chance and still play regular quality football and CL too.
I wish we were in for him.

too bad it seems certain Txiki is not in the business of getting him.
You know Txiki isn't in charge of transfers, right?

He is in charge of transfers.

Hes not the only one involved and its not his entire job, but he is one in charge.

Any time Pep talks about transfers or spending he talks about Txiki getting players for him, so Pep certainly thinks he's in charge.

He’s in charge of getting transfers done he isn’t in charge of deciding and setting budgets.

He scored a hat-trick against a third division German side, no need to overreact.

His record in Europe is the really impressive thing for me, and what separates him from others who have scored plenty in Germany recently (Werner, Andre Silva etc.)

It took him just 14 games to score 20 goals, a record. Interestingly, the previous holder was... Harry Kane, who scored 20 goals in his first 24 Champions League games (not to mention several in the Europa League).

That's like Sterling scoring 3 against Forest Green rovers

Money was the early answer, but having seen the price of Kane now I’m not so sure why.
This is what I don’t get either.

Say all up we had to spend for Haaland this year 150-175M transfer fee (incl agents) and a wage similar to KDB of 375k per week. On a 6-year contract. That equates to significantly less than JG 100M and 200k per week (for a position we don’t need) and HK for the circa 120-130m (that City fans seem to think will get the deal done vs 150M Levy wants) and 300-350K a week wages.

If finances/budget the rationale for not going for Haaland, why spend big on JG in a position that I don’t think we need. This takes away from the finance/budget for the position we do need. I do wonder if there’s a Home Grown angle here that City are preemptively planning for.

Chelsea have just secured Lukaku for less than we paid for JG. They’ve spent less to strengthen in a position they need to strengthen in than we have spent in a position we didn’t need to, and the season commences in a week.

If there are to be some sales from City as speculated (can’t see us getting true value for people like Silva given the limited funds available at the clubs he would be prepared to go), then maybe the JG purchase makes some sense, time will tell.

Incredibly high signing on fees for himself, his agent and his dad pretty much drives the price up another £50m+. That’s £200m before you’re talking about the wages he’d demand for. The money involved is simply not feasible.

Next year, yes. But we can’t afford to wait around for another year messing around with midfielders playing the false fucking 9.
