Erling Haaland

It's not going to happen for so many obvious reasons. However, in principle, I'd have no issue with a release clause so long as it allowed us to at least recoup our investment (including the ridiculous agent fees). We don't keep players here against their will and, let's be honest, we almost always sell them for less than fair value. So what difference would a release clause make anyway?

In this current financial climate I don't think we will be at the races for this guy. I put my money on PSG next year when Mbappe goes to Madrid

I would love to join the Haaland train.

City won’t pay the money required.

The club need to grow a pair and lay down a thunderbastard. Find a way to make the deal work instead of worrying about FFP.

Dortmund could not say no to £150m.

It's has always been very "simple", even now.

Any club that meets Dortmund's €150m euros asking price can have him today.

In addition to wages of £500k a week, £40m to Mino and the Haaland family, the buy out clause, it would move very quickly.

Sadly, it's a £200m deal before a ball is kicked.

Would I do it?

Not my money, would break the bank and even go another year without a left back!!

We don’t have the bollocks to be like PSG and just say fuck it though do we?

That's an issue. They also want to dictate the buyout amount.

There years in, Mino is already ringing clubs and preparing the ground.

Personally, I would think outside the box.

Make him the first billion pound footballer.

Put what Dortmund want and then hand him a ten year deal.

Something like the Chiefs did with Mahomes.

Make him the face of your franchise/club.

Guarantee his wages over the ten years and add a break clause after six years with an agreed buy out that essentially gets us his wages back.

£500k a week is £24m a year.

£240m contract over ten years - year six - his money goes up to £650k a week or an agreed buy out of £200m.

We will have got most of our return on the pitch and in wages paid out.

Promise him after ten years he can fuck off or from age of 31 he gets two year renewals and can go to New York for another few years.

By the age of 36, he is a billionaire.
Have you been at the sherry?

I think Mino is being smart with the release clause. We have seen with Kane he wanted to leave but couldn’t get out of his contract with levy refusing to sell. So at Haalands next club if he has that clause and Haaland wants to go it’s simple his club can’t do anything about it either.

We were prepared to go to that for Kane, If we are able to talk Mino out of the buy-out clause or come up with some other arrangement, that suited everyone and we could end up getting this deal done.

I think our highest earner is Kevin, and he's on 400K a week I think, so it isn't a drastic jump but certainly sizeable, (Should also be noted Kevin is saving that 10% unlike Erling is doing), so the difference isn't nearly as far as some may think.

The fact is that if we want these world-class players we may have to pay a bit and stop worrying about this fee or that fee.

Much as I wouldn't want a release clause. Make it a high one, if it's over £150m then who cares if he wants to fuck off after 3-4 seasons. There will always be a big talent emerging every couple years, and we make good money off a sale.
