I just think he is still playing catch up with his fitness in an average team.

Can't see his £150m valuation being dropped by 50 per cent between now and January.

Depends Spurs fans were saying online yesterday that Kane’s head is gone, he looks a broken man. Someone who was in the stadium yesterday tweeted saying Kane just didn’t look arsed. his passing and overall play was not of how he played last season. They said he looked drained mentally. if this form of his continues Levy might panic. It’s also not helping that Nuno is playing him as a number 10.

Does not look happy on the pitch.

It then becomes a question of do we go again for Kane on the basis that Spurs may be willing to sell but has his head gone or has he started his decline?

It's a big risk and we may have just dodged a big bullet.

The thing is, I see a lot of people complain that we get "ripped off" and also a lot of people complain that we "low ball". They can't win.

I dunno if it would have happened before the Barcelona boys arrived but you have to be fair to them: FFP is much harder to handle now. They have to be very careful and overall they've been fantastic.
Probably how I feel atm.wish we had PSG fuck em attudude sometimes

I think this is a bit of a misunderstanding, although I could be wrong. I'm friends with a couple of PSG fans through work (French lads in London). They said the strategy for a while now has been to splurge huge numbers on stars (notably Neymar and Mbappe), then surround them with cheap good players (Mathuidi €7m, Rabiot (free), Verratti - they signed from a Serie B side for €12m and now widely seen as one of the very best midfielders in the world, personally would have him in our first team).

City have been different. We have £50m players in almost every position. Foden and Zinch notable exceptions. Our 4th choice CB was £40m.

So on balance PSG spend similar overall to City, it's just that they balance it differently around theirs squad. City have said "fuck em", just in a less showy way.

And you know what? The flaw in their strategy was shown when we played them last season. Mbappe injured for the second leg and we killed them. There's actually a lot to be said for strength in depth and not relying on superstars. The risk is spread.

By the same logic, the fact City didn't really go for Kane in the end and decided to bin it, would suggest that thought process, or any other target we looked at, might he encouraging enough, otherwise surely would have gone a lot heavier for Kane.

I don't think we maintained the pursuit as much as is assumed. There was only really one supposed bid rumoured. At a push 2 if we try really hard to convince ourselves. Which to me feels like he was an option rather than the main target. Probably felt it was doable when the player wanted it, but at a much lower price, and walked away with lots of time left.

Lets see what January or next summer brings, so much can change by then.

On your final point, all the lore reason to target players that are right for the club, and not for a manager. Long term. Not that I think there is much in it at this point.
Still don’t get the fact that with kun leaving this was supposed to be the most important transfer of them all replacing a city legend and to not even bid for Harry Kane is quite simply ridiculous and it’s naive to say we are ok with going into defending out title and also making a push to go one better than the champions league final but if anything we have regressed and stood still . We will almost certainly not sign haaland because we don’t get in bidding wars which leaves another go at Kane who will be a year older. But at least we got another midfielder in . It’s still being mentioned because its difficult to get your head round the reasoning behind it .
