Erling Haaland

They are really struggling now. The insinuation is Erling is stupid and only going to City so his Dad and agent can get the biggest pay-off.

Imagine if he was reading all this and RM were still an option…I know he won’t be but still….

Didn't they say a few weeks ago Raiola wants Spain but Alfie is pushing England. Haha. This really is a pantomime to fill pages.

Nasty City swaying player's and agents minds with their money, which comes from uncertain sources, possibly linked to a state. Say Real Madrid.

If it down to football and evolving as a player, he chooses city and pep. If he prefers sun, sea and bikinis, he chooses Spain. Arguably he'd get more money in Spain too, as we're unlikely to break our wage structure for him.

So a bit of smoke and mirrors here, but the reason for it suggests they are not too confident :)
Er, Madrid is a fair distance from the beach ; )

It’s because people want to believe in somebody like they do psychics.

I’m an atheist but massively outnumbered by believers. I have trouble understanding but I accept that all the believers can’t be stupid.

People are just different. I used to think Romano was perhaps legit too. It’s difficult in a World where opinion is reported as fact now and a popular opinion carries more weight than a truth.

I think for a while Romano was probably quite well connected. I'm sure he is still...BUT that was never sustainable. As soon as he built this brand of being a transfer content guru he simply threw himself under the bridge and couldn't keep up. His whole schtick now is to keep spoonfeeding info to the world on a daily basis, and that will lead to things being stretched out and becoming more and more flimsy.

If he wasn't making videos and doing podcasts every day with airtime to fill, he'd probably be sharing news only when it actually happens. Now he speculates to keep up. Transfer gossip just isn't happening every day, but that's boring to the masses and doesn't equate to good content, so this is what you get...a watered down, cleverly worded and vague version.

IF we can get Haaland it’s great. Even better when the player actually does fit our team and style of play, stays fit and humble.
We already signed Alvares. An upcoming CF from Argentina. In case some forgot. Who knows Alvares is gonna be an even better signing than Haaland (again IF we get the latter).

Meanwhile in the SKY Sports newsroom Gary Ratboy Neville receives the news that Alfie is now a Manchester City player.

If people are realistic, the industry of transfer news is fairly unreliable because there simply isn't enough news to satisfy the audience demand. Which is why you get the pantomime nonsense which you see across all media outlets.
Are the people who decide which tier journalists are in tiered too?

e.g. This guy is only a tier 2, but was given that level by a tier 4 judge.

Mbappe has always dreamed of playing for City in the World’s top league and with the best Coach in the history of football.

Unfortunately Real Madrid, despite living off past glories, are still allowed to flash the cash supplied to them by the Spanish Government. This has made City think that Mbappe is only motivated by money and that he does not have the moral fortitude they are looking for.

Its looking like Mbappe is making the mistake of moving to Spain while City continue to dominate World football.

Good points

I like this excuse because it’s in direct contrast to us being told that raiola’s negative relationship with city and pep ensured he’d go to Madrid.

mad how things change

On the other hand, Raiola doesn’t have any clients who play for Madrid…

I'm not talking about Haaland, more in general. And the Alves example stands. City had a deal agreed with all parties and he got on a plane to Paris and signed there. C'est la vie.
Hear hear. This is why I find it weird that people get so emotional about transfer info and news - like they have to pick a side and are convinced one way or the other.

Players (and people in general) can change their mind in a split second for a million different reasons. So until Erling is holding a shirt on the club website, why get mad at people who still have doubts about him coming?

The Kaka, Messi, Jorginho, Hazard, Alves, etc, etc, threads were the best lessons on this.

We're clearly one of the front runners but I definitely won't be booking a tattoo in just yet.

Err we don't dominate world football but we have been catching up in terms of prestige due to winning domestic trophies in one of the best leagues in the world.

Romano is like a glorified news aggregator. And just as I find it weird that people get angry about aggregators, I find it weird that people get so offended by him. He's basically a one man industry in terms of collating transfer news in English.

He's got nothing on Gumzy!

Didnt the collective we claim the exact same thing in reverse mere months ago?

Not sure any Mino clients have ever played for Madrid. There are also some very negative comments from Raiola about the way Madrid treat players.

Haaland transfer reminds me of Pogba. Madrid were the financial stalking horse in that case too.

I think you do a disservice to the football businessmen who run many of the top clubs, and many of the smaller one’s too.
Yes most buying & selling is pretty open, as having price competition for a sale is beneficial to the selling club, so there are plenty of ‘leaks‘, but when serious people want to keep commercially sensitive information under wraps then that’s where it stays, as you’ll know by the occasional “out of the blue” signing for our club.
If your friend just ‘hears stuff’ then it’s stuff that doesn’t matter or she works for idiots not worthy of their roles.

I don’t get how people can imagine that businesses with multimillion pound turnover could be successfully run without any commercial confidentiality just because they happen to be involved in football.
The post was about noise. The same is as true for Hollywood, the music industry, or the banking industry or anywhere else where there are multi million pound deals are done. Spend a night in a pub on Canary Wharf and you'll hear all the gossip in the world about next week's mergers or deals. When Microsoft, one of the biggest companies in the world, are producing a new console, with all of the NDAs and best lawyers in the world, the news sites will have a pretty good idea of what is happening. People talk, even if those at the top are tight lipped, and it won't always be accurate but if you put your ear to the ground and listen you can get a decent sense of what's going on.
