I’d be worried about the prospect of them hijacking it if they were in the Champs League and Pep wasn’t extending, but it looks like neither of the above are true at this stage.

They’ve pulled off their fair share of audacious gazumps from under our noses recently but I think at this point, this one’s a bridge too far for them.

If it is done/agreed, and not been announced, then the club are comfortable enough to sit on it.

Indeed. Focussing on the job is what's needed. We may well have signed him but he remains a contracted employee of another club.
