errmm next

I don't think we'll be making many additions to the squad in January, we'll be relatively quiet. Obviously if we pick up injuries to key personel than that may change. Cahill isn't a bad shout though, he'll have 6 months left on his contract so if Bolton want to get anything for him they need to sell then, or he'll leave for free in the Summer.

These are more aimed at next summer but I can see us buying several youngsters at anything from £1m-£3m for the academy to try and get the next best thing.

We will probably need to start seriously thinking of FFPR so looking at freebies would be a good way to go.

De Rossi - if Hargreaves can recover his form/fitness then no need for him although they are different types of players. If Hargreaves is still a crock then De Rossi on a free in July would be perfect. Maybe this is even the plan - Hargreaves on a 1 year contract until De Rossi can come in on a free :-)

Cahill - again, cheeky low bid in Jan or tap him up for July on a free, good squad player. If Nedum can somehow get back into contention I wouldn't even bother (not holding out much hope of that)

Tevez out - Rossi (or similar) in - straight swap price-wise I hope. Thankful for all his goals but just want to see the back of him unless he does something miraculous.

Seriously, I'm struggling to think how we can improve the current squad without paying out £50m+ for a player.

I very much doubt we will be paying £40m+ for any more players unless it's a direct replacement for an outgoing transfer or retiring player.

Prices inflated, unless injuries dictate otherwise I hope we are done until next summer. If Tevez leaves we might go for another striker and I suspect Bridge and Ned will be shipped out (hopefully in the case of Bridge).

We will ship out Onuoha and Bridge, I'm sure.

As for the comments about Barry, he has been good so far, but he won't sustain a run of good form all season, mainly because of his age. Barry does go missing in games just as most players do. Thing with Barry is he (and Hargreaves) are our elder statesmen, they are now heading towards the Virea role and so we will have to replace them in the next year or two.

Barry is aging, (although he looks good against the likes of Swansea and Bolton), Lescott is good enough to play these teams but I have doubts about him at the top level.

I am probably being a bit critical of these players but we have to keep moving forward each window otherwise we will end up with a squad like Chelsea's, old and injury prone and needing massive investment to become top dog again.

No one, we have a great squad for the next 4-5 years. Lets start producing some youth.

^ I agree with this although do think we'll occasionally add a big signing here and there, maybe a CB next year dependant on Savic's progress and Lescott's continuing form. I do think the bulk spending is now over as we have an amazing squad.

Our improved academy facilities will be built in the next couple of years and even now we're bringing through some really good young players who can only benefit from the facilities and resources we have.

Some of our shrewdest business this summer has been the signing of Rekik and Suarez.

We don't need, but could do with:

A CM, either to replace Barry or as his understudy, depending on if he can keep his form of late (unless Hargreaves does OK)
A Centre Back,
A Winger to compete with AJ,
A striker (if Tévez goes)
And to either make the Pantilimon loan permanent or get a new keeper.

Not all to be done in January, mind.

That should do it! Then we just need to get players in as others leave, as well as continuing our youth talent harvesting! ;)

Thats a very good point. Producing youth and signing young players is the key.

The problem with Chelsea sometimes have been that Abramovich has gotten some kind of crazy ideas to spend 50m on Torres or Shevchenko.

That doesn't seem to be the case at City. Especially not since Mancini took over.

I hope City dont go for 25+ aged superstars like Kaka, Sneijder....but continue to go for players like Sanchez, Nasri, Savic.....

Unless someone leaves who is in the CL squad (not ned) we cannot field any more players so it will be on a one out one in basis, can't see us signing anyone in January window.

Hmm...seems to you our business will never be done.
