In all seriousness and "rag hating" to one side, it really is truly incredible how bad Rooney has become.

I remember only a couple of years ago how he used to terrorize us in the derby.

It can't just be down to poor fitness, he's just a shadow of the player he was, and at 28(?) he shouldn't have declined this rapidly.

Glad he has, don't get me wrong, but still a surprise.

I was saying the other day to someone that if you look at the raw 16/17yr old Rooney that had all the talent and arrogance in the world its actually amazing that he never reached his potential. He spent so much time in his development wanking off Ronaldo for slur that he never quite become the player he should of

My point just summed up by that woeful effort.

A player like Lineker or Shearer would be scoring fucking sackfuls against shite pub teams like this.

You must have missed his England career then. 99% of shreks goals have come against s*** like Estonia.

Also lots of players decline. Look at Torres. It's hard to play at the elite level of sport.

To be fair, Rooney has been one of the best strikers in the PL for the past decade. You don't score the amount of goals as he has without being a top quality player.

However I believe that he has always lacked a sort of self belief to ever become world class. He has always been happy at playing second fiddle to another player (i.e Van Nistlerooy, Ronaldo, Berbatov and Van Persie) when he should have been demanding to be the top dog. You only have to look at his England performances to see why he will never be in the world class bracket. Every time he has been the main man he has failed to deliver.
