Etihad Atmosphere - 2021/22

I’ve never been in the OSC and never will be.
I respect your choice not to Andy.

What I'm saying is that it seems rather hypocritical for anyone to claim to be a supporter of a club when not being a member (or in some cases being unaware) of the official supporters club.

It's the basic difference between supporters and fans.

I’m almost certain they did, but it’s naive to think that Simon Heggie would say to Pep “this is what you need to say” and that he’d go along with it. Guardiola was extremely bullish today and was always going to say what he wanted, not what the PR dept wanted.
It shouldn’t be a case of Pep wants to say this, the comms team wants to say that. If you’re working well together and trust each other you find a way through messes like this. A great comms team is a diplomatic one.

Yeah I agree. It would have pissed off fans too because it would have meant that they were right to think he was criticising them.

I think this is one of those where we need to settle down and try to move beyond this now. We normally can't control the anti-City narratives but here's one where we easily can.

I don't think it should be expected that Pep would realise why City fans specifically don't take kindly to even the slightest hint of a 'no fans' comment. Even someone who's done their research could easily miss all the abuse City fans got off of United fans during their rapid ascension to seemingly global dominance (on the popularity front). It's extraordinarily difficult to think of any other club who had to deal with a local rival like United. This is the club that got so arrogant that they decided that they transcended the local rivalry to have one with Liverpool. We can be a sensitive bunch much of the time but this is one I understand (even if I still don't care too much personally).

Now that the heat has died down fans should realise that Pep never meant harm. Remember this is a guy that's been taking the media heat more than anybody for the past 5 years now. If he didn't like us he'd have gone long ago.

We can all end this.

He was dead to me yesterday

Now he's king of the hill again, who says football supporters aren't fickle ;)

He’s never slagged us off and he does ‘get what it is to be a City fan. He misjudged/misunderstood this one. But your tone and anger is well over the top. I’m further back than your vintage by the way ..and suggest you calm down and bask in the cups won in Pep’s era
I sugest you don't sugest how i should feel. Cups are great - all we ever wanted was one a few years ago. But he hasnt got a clue about city fans - not just this coment, but a few over the last few years have put me and many others off him.

Yes hes a good manager, motivator and tactician. But no he doesn't understand the fans, the history or the soul of the club he manges.

Don’t think it’s quite as simple as that tbf. There are a lot of die-hard City fans still genuinely annoyed by Guardiola’s comments.
They are annoyed because their red mates are giving them stick, let's have it right.
No, it's an honest question.

We all claim to be supporters, 100% behind the club, dyed in the wool Blues, happy clappers, moaners, fight to the end fans, season card holders, Cityzens, etc, but how many are actually members of the OSC?

Shouldn't OSC membership be a minimum expectation for all if us? It's the only officially recognised club for City fans. It's something that fans used to join at the first opportunity when I was a lad.

It's genuinely being a PART OF THE CLUB. An opportunity to actually contribute towards the club, share views and experiences face to face with fellow members and create a positive environment in which to spread the word.

If you're a true Blue, you should be in the OSC.
Don't ever change, mate. :-)

I’m in the OSC because the Eccles branch runs a coach to the games home and away. But mainly because they are a great group of lads, lasses and kids. We have social events to raise money for charity, keep our heads down with regard to the Main Committee and have a meeting once a month to report on things Citywise.
I’m not sure how other branches go on but for me it’s mainly the social side. I now pick and choose when I travel with them and obviously don’t use the away coach any more.

Once again I feel it is and should always be the choice of the individual whether to join or not.

I suppose after going for 50 years I’d best Jack it in then, how I wish I’d been a true supporter ;-)

You're too good for this forum EB.. :-)

I’ve no desire to join the OSC myself. Does that make me less of a supporter?!
You're a fan rather than a supporter.

I honestly don't see why fans don't join the OSC, it's not like it costs a fortune and it gives the opportunity to get closer to the club.

It's not going to hurt anyone to join, and - with all due respect to you Ric - the OSC has got more chance of influencing matters at City than BM ever will.
