New songs are always welcome but they need to be simple and catchy. A lot of our new songs are just mumbling bollocks that even a lot of our regular fans can't decipher. The Ruben Dias one isn't great but I hate the one about empty seats and the one to the tune of Brimful of Asha. There are too many songs about our rivals too.

Get the basics out on Sunday and get everyone engaged:

City songs are the songs that should be sung the most.

Heard a big blast of “oh Man City, the only football team to come from Manchester” in the first half at Leeds last week. Not heard that for years!

All those proper City chants are very much missed but would very much be still sung loudly and proudly by most fans compared to some of the lesser-known and some of the bobbins songs we have.

A good proportion of our fans seem hard pressed to make a noise even when we score.
Maybe it's the middle class influence and an aging fan base.

A year before van Dijk signed for Liverpool. It‘s not unusual for us to have decent original songs that don’t take off for whatever reason (maybe it’s that section of Blues who are just too cool) but if other clubs sang them they would take off and sound great.

It’s because loads of people never get to hear them or see them being sung.

When you’re in the stadium, you can barely make head-nor-tail of half the songs that South Stand Level 1 are singing. Most of the crowd don’t know the words to most of the songs they sing. That was my point a few pages ago about filming the singing section. Hardly anyone is going to watch a video of people singing in a pub on a random Twitter account (that’s the first time I’ve ever seen that video it’s seven years old). But post a video of fans in the singing section on a proper YouTube fan channel and you’ll get thousands of people seeing it. Do subtitles with the words underneath n’all so people get to know the words.

What doesn’t help with it all though is that half the time you can’t tell what’s being sung over in SSL1 because only a small number of the singing section are singing and can be drowned out by away fans or the Kippax Corner sing a different song… you can have three different songs being sung at the same time down that end of the ground by three different lots of fans and to the rest of the stadium it just sounds like a dirge of noise.

On Sunday, have a listen when the atmosphere gets going. The biggest song of the day will sound like, “Blue Moon, you shud have seen us gannin', we lost last week and we lost today, without a dream in my heart, just as they wer stannin', we don’t give a fuck cos we’re all pissed up, without a love of my own, to see the Blaydon Races, MCFC OK!”

Get rid of the ‘fast’ version of Blue Moon. The slow one is our DNA and didn’t need tampering with.

Give Foden his own song.

Can you start a sticky thread with all the lyrics in to the classics. And a description of the 'tune' if possible so people can easily google it and listen to how it should sounds. Or a link to am existing video of people singing it.

I have just found a load of different fan chant playlists on Spotify by searching for Manchester City

One of the catchy tunes in my opinion is the we're all singing Edin dzeko song but it needs updated lyrics without any swearing so a) kids can join in and b) people don't feel awkward about singing it when they notice kids sat near them.

Mancunian classics should take off but they don’t for some reason.

Remember “Let me put you in the picture let me show you what I mean, David Silva’s fucking magic he’s the best we’ve ever seen”, “Sometimes I fantasise, won the league under Mancini and again with Pellegrini”, or the old “You’re the one for me Barry” which if transformed to “You’re the one for me City”, could be a lasting City chant that we’re crying out for instead of another short lived player based chant.

If these or the one you’ve suggested were sang at other clubs they would go off, you never know they might like that Dirty Old Town one. Sometimes I just think we have a weird fan base I can’t lie.

We play great controlled football, patience is the key and imo that reflects the crowd, if we were gung ho all guns blazing then imo the crowd would be noisier

Said this before but often it's the song selection that absolutely kills the atmosphere. Blue Moon, Were not really here etc are great. But when it picks up everyone suddenly opts for the Dzeko song/use your head and use your feet. They're just shit and ruin the momentum.

I think the atmosphere would be better pre match without the music blasing off the tannoy too, let the atmosphere build naturally.
