Etihad Atmosphere - 2021/22

I actually think overall there's been a marked improvement in atmosphere this season.

The atmosphere's always great when there's a lot riding on the game. Fortunately (or unfortunately, however you want to look at it) most games are not that precarious

Couple of bloke sat in front of me left after 85 mins. Then again, they usually leave on around 80 minutes for every other game, even when the scoreline is something like 1-1. Unbelievable

I think the Rail Seating has helped a little bit. Also helps that we've had a few years off so maybe going to the game these days feels like a bigger occasion now?
 
Best I’ve heard it for a while.we can do it. It definitely needs organising. The rags to be fair are trying to organise their home support to create because theirs has been as bad as ours. Sorry to use that scum as an example. Fucking hate them with a passion

This is one of the things we struggle with within 115.

We have loads of people who are well up for it on the concourse. They turn up 30 mins before kick-off, order 5 pints each and go mad until 5 minutes into the game. Then stumble down to their seats and stand in silence for 30 minutes before rushing back to the bar to do the same again. Really weird logic - just go to the pub?

It also doesn't help with the corporate bit in SSL2, I agree. They should stop serving food/drink 15 mins before kick-off there so people make their way in. Why would you pay all that money for a spectacle, just to miss the opening scene?

Until the North Stand is redeveloped I think we're stuck with the South Stand though, so we just have to make do with it.

Glad you brought it up about the empty seats, its by biggest bug bear and prevents us from doing better displays. Think i have mentioned before there are many reasons we can not move displays, they always have to be n 115 lower area. Fans stay a little to long on concourse and above in tier two its the corporate soft seats.

We tried a different way of displaying the long banner at the front, we had sleeves sewn in to the back of the banner so it held up better, similar idea to the gold ship. Also because we used 2 of the club guys to help, it enabled us to be in front of the new neon light boards. Fans are strictly not allowed in that area unless accompanied by a member of staff. The guys that help us are great and mad city fans to.
I think it was a success but first i apologise to any fans on the front row if it spoiled the view, last thing we want is to spoil the start for fans, most of the fans stood on seats so that they could see above the banner. We intend to try this again as the view of the banner was 100% better, we wont hold it for to long so not to spoil the view for front row fans, i hope you dont mind if you do stand there.

I looked over at the rags fans as i was waving the telescopics and thought "do you lot see this at the swamp" ! No they dont, made me smile as some of their fans shouted "what the f***** is that". I just laughed and thought its called supporting the blues !

First half there was 3 songs going on at once, fans eager to get going, fair play to them. Second half was excellent. The poznan for me made the night.

Fucking quality

There was a moment as well, where we were singing Blue Moon (and I’m one of the most critical of that chant as I think it’s a right dreary old song) and it felt like the whole ground was singing it at once… it’s the first time in years where it’s felt proper, sung properly. Was hair raising!

We started doing the 'Ole' passing thing which turned into Blue Moon and yes, it was deafening from my seat. Although they would have hated it, I bet it was a real spectacle for the United fans in the away end.

And yes, the Yaya/Kolo chant was brilliant. My rag mate in work said he turned it off when they started showing the Poznan, said it was insufferable haha.

The;r "20 times" was actually ripped off from our "Istanbul we are coming" sing back 12 years or so ago. That was an original song back then.
 
The atmosphere was good after City scored. It died a death after United scored. It went quieter after the incident in SSL1. All in all I thought the atmosphere in the 1st half wasn't great considering it was a derby. City weren't playing well. United were holding their own. And the crowd was nervous and agitated.

In comparison the atmosphere in the 2nd half was superb. Once the 3rd goal went in, BOOM! The atmosphere for 30 minutes was definitley up there with some of the best atmospheres ever heard at the Etihad. Every part of the ground joined in. The Etihad was rocking. The Poznan around the stadium looked superb. We all love the Poznan. Blue smokies in SSL1 and the FSL1 (Lol!) Different groups of fans in the same stands starting different songs. The constant, and constant goading of United fans in SSL1 and the other away levels. The DJ at the end belting out the tunes. The Yaya/Kolo chant around the ground was immense.

I've always said this like others have today. You'd be hard pressed to hear a better atmosphere, amount of different chants, and general sh*t housery banter towards the away fans in any other English football stadium.

The poor Rags, especially in SL1, wouldn't admit it, but they won't hear a better atmosphere and see a better spectacle than City's support this season. Bar after United scored, United's vocal support was shite. They do have a good vocal away support, but for some reason it never turns up at the Etihad.

it must have been a shit game for the rags fans in lower SS, a total shit day well deserved too. I would say no quite as good as Leeds as for that game we where good singing for 90 mins.

yeh the poznan, how much must it p**s away fans off when they see that... A good yaya kolo to, very loud.
