Etihad Atmosphere - 2021/22

It’s embarrassing that this is even a topic. If I lived near Manchester I would be going to every match cheering at top of my lungs even if I had to skip a meal a day to afford it. Seems like there are some spoiled fans these days.

If you lived near Manchester you would realise there is a lot more to do in life than skipping a meal to afford watching 22 millionaires kick a football around.

Atmosphere was OK last night, but so many left early I doubt if 50% were still in the ground at full time.
If that is primarily down to transport issues then the club needs to demand better from the transport providers and tell us who they've approached.
Say what you like but other clubs have similar issues. Truth is, for whatever reason there is a fair percentage of City fans that are just not passionate and no number of trophies or brilliant performances will change that.

So you would rather go back to watching a Championship side then? What do you think is the issue?

No i'd rather just watch the game and not scream and shout. I'd also rather eat a Sausage and Mash microwave meal and listen to the game on GMR.

Unfortunately I left around 85’ as I’m in the office today. I don’t mind evening matches on a Monday or Tuesday as I WFH the following day, but I’m up early on a Thursday. If I leave at full time it can be difficult getting a cab. Leaving 5 minutes before means I was able to get a cab and be home for 22:30.

If the tram worked I’d get that. Unfortunately the few times I’ve tried a tram in the evening I get home at 23:30 or later.

Bizarre take on what he said. People for all sorts of reasons don't go. Maybe they have kids to feed, or should we let them starve as well so someone can go to the game? Maybe they have work commitments like i know the lad i go with had last night, or maybe they just don't want to go. It's no embarrassing and actually if you were there last night you'd know it wasn't that bad at all.

I was exaggerating a bit. I know it’s not realistic to go to every match but in a huge city like Manchester with a great history it should never be an issue to have a poor atmosphere, especially when you have one of the best teams in the world

not a bad atmosphere, i said to the lads at the back of the block it is sometimes easier to get songs going when it is not as packed out, you dont get 3 songs at once. Most of the game was just one song only and carried on for a while... Bernardooo was sung for a solid 4 or 5 minutes at the beginning of first half, we need more of this.

We must be the worse club for it though in the prem ( well perhaps a par with arsenal ). We win 3 nil to go top of the league yet when the whistle goes at the end the stadium was about 50% occupied.. FFs clap the lads off they have just gone top of the league with 6 left to ply.

I took my nephew last night and it cost me the best part of £100 which were the cheapest tickets available together, so you'd have to skip 20 meals to be able to go, so good luck with that.

We had 53k there last night, a Wembley trip last week and a CL semi final next week. The last 10 years have been the highest average attendance in our history, we don't have tourists to prop us up like the red shite and London clubs.

Glad to hear, I know most don’t like “tourists” but it’s good business. Is there a supporters section in the stadium to help lead the chanting?

Don't criticise support if you don't go to games yourself, you have no right.

The pricing has a lot to do with it. We haven't got the numbers that other clubs have so when we've had a run of Atletico, Liverpool, Atletico away, Liverpool at Wembley it was always going to be a game where people stayed away. It might just be fatigue from that run. Many will have done all four of those and after an Easter weekend may have wanted to stay at home with the family. Or had to catch up on work.

If the club had priced it at £20 for adults and £5 for kids then it would have been too good to turn down. Our attendances always tend to be better on the weekends. During the week most blues have commitments which make it tricky.

When I was at uni in Sheffield I used to have to sprint back to Piccadilly to get the last train back if I left at full time for a midweek game. Leaving 5 minutes early can be worth 30 mins plus off the time you get home.

It wasn’t bad and it wasn’t brilliant either. I find it embarrassing that our crowd just disappear at the end after putting in an amazing shift and going top of the league again. Too many try to defend and make their excuses for our crowd. I’m not interested in individual cases for not staying and appreciating our wonderful team but it’s the majority that just bugger off. In comparison and I’m getting quite envious now ( I always remember the Kippax giving them a reception off when they did well. That was not very often) the kop all stayed and applauded them the other night and klopp doing his usual fist bumps to an adoring kop. Back at the Etihad..our players trudge off to a load of empty seats. Yes I’m having a go at our support because something needs doing about it. The atmosphere and pre match is a joke. Very stiff support we have now. I’ve personally sang on my own in different parts of our stadium to get a song going and nobody helps me. I never had a problem when I stood on Kippax. Total strangers would jump on it. It needs sorting because we have a problem these days. Very stiff support indeed and it’s very annoying. I’m old skool.
