Etihad Atmosphere - 2022/23

We are the envy of all English football and European football . We handle it superbly with class . Others clubs fans hate us and envy us because we are so good . They will never have what we have .
Chill the fuck out and enjoy the ride before it passes you by !

Great post.
As someone once said - " Nothing lasts forever" !!

Sat at the back of 211 and apart from the odd song the majority of us there spent at least half the game winding the Leeds fans up on the corner of the third tier . No where near vocal in 211 as we usually are .

So true. Enjoy these wonderful times blues!

the atmosphere vs Leeds was awful - It feels like whenever a team comes and really belts out their songs, the kippax and the south stand just kind of accept it and go, “ah well, we’ll let them just dominate the noise”. The onus is 100% on the kippax and south stand to ‘get it going’ given they are literally next to them. in fairness, sometimes they do, but they didn’t vs Leeds and it ended up being embarrassing from where I was sat in Colin bell. And yes, I do belt out songs from where I’m sat, i get on everyone’s tits because I don’t stop
Maybe not ‘awful’, but it could’ve been so much better if we’d taken the initiative from the off and concentrated on traditional, atmospheric chants and songs not these new ones which are more suited to away games or when we’re 3-0 up with 5 minutes to play !!

Honestly, I can’t believe what some posters post in this thread. Anyone would think the Etihad is a morgue for 19 games a season. Lol!

I’d love those complaining and going over the top about our home support and lack of it to go to other PL grounds and sit in their home ends, whilst City‘s away support sing almost non stop for 90 minutes. Let’s start comparing for some sensible balance.

I’ve no doubt our home support against Real Madrid will get criticised after the match regardless of the scoreline and final result.

it was good that the North Stand raised their voices in the second half to lift the atmosphere a bit.

I just don’t think that a lot of Blues understand how important a game Leeds is to us over 50s. In contrast, I’m sure the ground will be rocking against Real.

We’ve had plenty of goid stmospheres this season with the the Skuth Stand really getting behind the lads. Saturday wasn’t one of those.

If the penalty had gone in the atmosphere would have gone up a notch. And the Poznan would have been done. As it was, the penalty miss allowed Leeds a chance to get back into the game, which they took, and the last 10 minutes including injury time was nervy. TBH the final whistle was a relief and welcomed.

I sit in CB130 close to that end and agree, when the NS wants to belt out a song it really improves the atmosphere, on Saturday I thought the SS did a decent job, a bit repetitive but gave as good as they got, KC was a bit more subdued than usual but still ok, what didn’t help either was not many of the songs travelled down the sides or upwards, what are blocks 125-121 in the Colin Bell like ? I can’t see from where I am. I agree with those who say the classics pick up better, I love the new stuff, but we need a good mix till more people cotton on to the new songs. The whole ground just lacked cohesion on the day, but that wasn’t a problem against Arsenal or likely to be against RM or Chelsea

Nobody said the atmosphere is poor every game but lots commented that it wasn’t great against Leeds. That’s because it wasn’t for much of the game. Real Madrid will look after itself like arsenal and Bayern did. The anthems will spread around the ground.

Your comments in this thread recently prove to me the big disconnect we now have between the singing areas and the rest of the stadium inlower key games. We have games like Saturday where very little gets going beyond a few hundred behind the goal and then the people in those areas come on here getting all indignant.

In the first half whilst 3 or 400 of you were having a great time Follow following the boys in blue everywhere on loop the rest of the stadium sat in silence waiting for the all too occasional Blue Moon and the Leeds fans just sang Marching on Together over you.
