Etihad atmosphere

We weren't playing awful, but this is part of the problem. The barometer for judging performance has changed so much with expectations that sections of our home crowd have seemingly forgotten what awful, or similar, actually is. For context, this was awful: http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/eng_prem/6185673.stm

We don't have a divine right to win every game, but the sense of desperation and expectation to do so reflects in the atmosphere.

I don't expect the place bouncing every game, and in answer to your question there isn't a ground that is. However, i'd suspect there aren't many that boo when top of the league after drawing, either. Maybe one or two obvious candidates - but do we want to be part of that group?

To be honest we were awful in the first half by our standards. Was everyone booing the team or the Ref/Southampton time wasting tactics? I would have thought a bit of both. lets face it football is a bit of a pantomime nowadays anyway with all this shitty razzamatazz pre, during and after the game. That players getting off the coach bit......"Here comes our Ginger Prince.." cringe

City fans are quiet, that the top and bottom of it..

The only time we have a decent atmosphere is when we play utd ,liverpool or if we are chasing the game after coming from behind..

I feel embarassed at some of the Champs League games, the away fans are always louder than us..

Pep must be thinking, what has he let himself in for..

There is not much we can do about it really, if people dont want to shout and sing at the game, what can we do to get them to change.

There's a guy in our block who turns up late and then spends the next ten minutes phoning half-time beer orders through to one of his mates.

Our audible support during home games must be the worst in the league, which is strange because when the crowd fears the worst, they leave it until the last five minutes to try and motivate the team?

The booing, which i could barely hear i would suspect was a miniority and quite possible born out of frustration for their time wasting and inept refereeing. I don't know for definite, but i give the majority of our fans credit as not to boo our team when we are top of the league and just drawn. I'd disagree about being awful, first half was extremely poor and that set the tone for the atmosphere. I agree we don't have a devine right to win, but i do think we should expect to win. I think we are the best team in this league and when the players put in a shit house first half performance like yesterday then that is reflected in the crowd.

THeres a guy in our block who does nowt else but spend the first ten minutes staring at me while I phone me beer order in....at least I'm making some noise.....

My block full of folk like that as well.

It's amazing how important beer is to people at the match. Never quite understood it myself.

I think the flatness this season derives from a naivety within our fan base towards the style of play Pep is trying to implement.
Boring, backwards, sideways.
Call it whatever you like, but it's a patient approach that bases itself on controlling games as opposed to a gung-ho, we attack, you attack system.
Quite a few have come on here criticising and asking him to change.
It won't happen.

We're playing sublime football at times so the excuse that we need the players to drive us on as fans doesn't wash with me.
This is clearly something that's been highlighted within the dressing room too as Pep has twice tried to address the fans on the matter of atmosphere.

Before I begin, I understand this post may offend some and I want to apologise in advance.

Watching the Southampton game back last night and around the time of Stones' ruled out goal, player shouts were clear as day and the referee whistle was heard echoing around the ground.
I couldn't help but think that was the flattest a Premier League game has sounded.
Of course, I only had to go back a previous week to the Everton game where I thought the same.
An excellent performance being greeted by an overwhelming flatness from our part.
The 1894 Group are excellent.
They bring fantastic visuals and try their best to generate a buzz, but that can only go so far with the constant pessimism in the terraces.
Backwards passes greeted with sighs and calls for a more direct, Stoke approach are becoming an increasing concern.
BlueMoonRising TV is one of my favourite fan mediums and I check it as often as a new video permits.
In the past 4 day there's been a a guy asking for Txiki to be sacked and the board restructured.
This is the same board that was the main driving point in Peps arrival.
Another video yesterday had a fan quick to jump into the 'I never wanted Pep in the first place' camp.
I understand fan views DO NOT represent BMR so this is no slight on them, I understand that everyone is entitled to an opinion and I also understand that we don't all enjoy possession football.
However, I find it very concerning that 9 games into a PL season (which we sit top of) that we already have fans with that sort of attitude.
Pessimism is something which spreads round the ground very quickly and before too long those boo's at half time will be directed at the team and not the referee.

We've recently been to Celtic Park and witnessed one of the best atmospheres in Europe (IMO).
If anyone believes the ability of that Celtic XI alone pushed them over the line then you need to sit down and have word.
I've been in that ground half empty, drenched in rain and and managed by Ronny Deila whilst the Green Brigade still manage to create a real buzz about the place.

Generating an atmosphere works both ways.
The players put on a show, we respond, and vise versa.
We are playing some of the best football seen at City in my lifetime so why aren't we as fans doing our part?
Ultimately results are everything, I get that and trying to avoid going through the cliche list... they will come.
Get behind the team, be patient, get off David Silvas back for not shooting and try adopt a more open mentality to this completely new approach to our play.

Queue the, 'I paid for this seat and I'll do whatever I like' brigade.

This exactly my friend.
