I'm guessing, but I don't think the club and the 2015 Rugby World Cup organizers want construction work on-going before and during the Rugby World Cup match at the Etihad. Not to mention moving the cranes, and taking City Square apart, etc. I also don't think the club was 100% sure about new season ticket sales. Obviously with nearly 10,000 on the waiting list, that's no longer a concern. So I expect we won't have to wait too long before the North Stand is expanded as well.

The Rugby World cup is something I did not consider but fair point. Concerning moving the cranes and relocating or taking down the City square, I see it as part of the process of extension of both stands. And that is how I think it should be done- a single project of extension because if the North stand is going to be done anyway why not now. If there are occasions that may delay it for a while like the world cup then that is fine but the extension should be started as soon as possible, get this phase and stadium project over and done with.

Ill be waiting for your next pics as always. Keep up the good work.

For the purposes of FFP, the works around the stadium and overall expansion plans have been tailored to our accounting periods and planned well in advance, to secure the required offsets.

City don't want or need one quick offset, they want significant tranches coming off the bottom line for the next five years at least.

Just because the owner has cash on hand, it serves the club no purpose to spend it in haste.

A LARGE portion of the CFA will be coming off the next set of figures. The North Stand, the following year...then...South...then leisure/casino plot...then housing...

If the break-even/FFP case is resolved in our favour over the next 12 months, works on the South Stand will start straight away, we already have the permission and permits.

I'm probably misunderstanding but stadium developments and the CFA aren't included in FFP calculations.

When they start putting the glass in, it'll really start to look the business.

I'm wondering if they'll do the rest of the outside right after, leave it until they do the North stand, or not bother.

The outside of the Emirates looks better then the Etihad, but I think City can fix that.

Interesting ideas regarding the Stadium.
Imagine The Video on the walls (already mentioned) - just as I am driving past they show Dickov goal - and I slam on the brakes - guy behind runs into the back of me - ?. Many accidents on Alan Turing Way?.
I believe the North Stand expansion will start summer of 2016 - if the power supply is sorted.

Also not seen this anywhere - Melbourne City Academy.........

They seem to have changed their strip(home) to white shirt with Sky Blue/ Dark Blue vertical stripe. Their original strip of Red and white stripes
are now the away kit.

No but if all those infrastructure projects are done at once that's a hell of a chunk of money to spend in one or two accounting periods and some of it may have to come out of the Messi piggy bank. ;-)

The FFP factor and accounting is certainly an interesting angle and it is good that you raised it but I would have thought the decision for the expansion, scheduling and plans for the stadium were made before FFP was even instituted as policy. I am more inclined towards the jrb explanation of the club waiting to assess not only the attendance in the new....er.. South stand but also the subsequent season ticket waiting list for the new North stand and in that case, there is no need to delay construction of the North stand because there is no point in waiting if you are going to expand it anyway.

Also given the critical nature of the FFP rules in terms of the punishments and effects on the club's spending and competitive restrictions, I would have thought that the South stand expansion will not have been started if there is indeed a risk of it affecting our chances of breaking even and not breaching the FFP rules, The £200 million New CFA also falls into the same category. I know there is always clever accounting and fiscal manipulation to incorporate those costs into different yearly financial reports as you said but my stance is still if you can build the south stand, then you can build the north stand as well and there is no need for undue delay.

Looks like East Manchester was definitely on her period that day/night!

Probably not the best time to mention this, but I did a quick update yesterday Morning. Pictures showing the new cladding, windows, and roof almost complete. Will post them later on today. Hopefully it will lift the mood a little, after a poor week on the pitch. :-(

ps. For some reason we always seem to get beat when I do my picture updates. Note to oneself: No more picture updates for the rest of the season. ;-)

Stadium development cost is not FFP-excluded. Training-facility spending is exempt, but with respect to constuction of tangible fixed assets (for example stadium expansion) we can exclude the finance costs on any loan taken out to finance the building of it, up until such time as building is completed, but that is all. After it's completed the annual depreciation of the asset is included in FFP spending.

That said, I believe we will write this down at 2% per annum, so I don't know what it's costing but if it's £50m, then it's only £1m/year for FFP purposes.

Absolutely the right time to post this! We need something to lift the doom & gloom.
As always we all look forward to seeing your latest photos.
It's good to remind everyone that the club is still going forward despite the problems on the pitch.
