Re: Etihad Campus, Stadium and Collar Site Development Threa
Not particularly earth-shattering, but one of the topics of this thread is the Etihad Campus, so it's a relevant topic. I've just found out that the Manchester Rangers RL club, formed a couple of years ago, will be playing its home fixtures at the Regional Athletics Arena on Friday nights starting from 20 March.
See below the text of an official club statement posted on their site on 24 February. If anyone prefers a link, here it is: <a class="postlink" href="http://www.manchesterrangers.co.uk/club-statement/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.manchesterrangers.co.uk/club-statement/</a>
They're currently in a regional NW league but their ultimate aim is to go professional, and Manchester City Council seems to have been keen to help them make this move happen. Underneath the statement I posted, their community officer Nick Holt states that they'd be keen to develop some kind of relationship with MCFC. Not sure what form that would take, but I note that City in the Community does follow them on Twitter.

Official Club Statement
Manchester Rangers Rugby League Football Club are pleased to announce that from the 2015 season, all of the club's home fixtures will be played out of the Manchester Regional Arena, part of the Etihad campus.
The move to the Regional Arena, with a capacity of 6500, is an integral step in the development of both Manchester Rangers RLFC and of rugby league in the City of Manchester.
In recognition of the clubs growth over the past 2 years, and its move to the arena, the men’s senior team has rebranded from East Manchester Rangers ARLFC to Manchester Rangers RLFC.
The club wishes to thank Eastlands Trust (formerly Manchester Sports & Leisure Trust) and Manchester City Council for their continued support and the commitment demonstrated by not only partnering with the club to facilitate the move to the arena, but also for preparing the facility for Rugby League.
Club Chairman Phil Fitton said: “It is an historic day for Rugby League in the City of Manchester, we outlined our plans for a professional club in Manchester and over the last two years we have been working closely with numerous organisations to lay the foundations for this to happen. Manchester is a sporting hot bed and we believe Rugby League can thrive at a professional level within the City. We can’t thank Eastlands Trust and Manchester City Council enough for their ongoing support and guidance to aid us in our vision.”
The team's opening fixture at The Manchester Regional Arena is scheduled for Friday March 20th versus West Bank ARLFC, kick off 7:30PM. Entrance £2 adults and £1 Children/Concessions.
