Etihad Campus, Stadium and Collar Site Development Thread

The East and west stands will allways have a gap with the North and South. The rakes of the upper tiers behind the goal are different to the east and west tiers. However when the east and west stands are expanded the corners will be resolved and the roof will read as one again. I can't be bothered finding the pictures but they are on this thread. It will look simple magnificent. I was there today and they were doing some tidying up of the external plant areas - new stone chippings etc.

By the way - this stand has cost 80 million pound and will not pay for itself for decades. There are some real ungrateful c...ts on here.

Just fill it and we will be seeing the North stand soon. Then the east and west - we will be getting 76,000 plus crowds in 2022.
Or put another. Way
One new south stand = 1 Paul pogba !

Well if you want to be pedantic about it then we'll call it that, but whatever way you dress it up, those corners look pretty crap
If screens go in that would radically alter the appearance. It just looks unfinished now.

Aren't you excited by the fact that the corners are temporary, i.e. this is phase 1 of the expansion and that's why the corners are the way they are

Anyone who thinks our owners intend to leave the stadium as is are clueless. They looked at a 100,000 sweater stadium for us as part of the feasibility studies. The long term design for the etihad has been future proofed and I know for a fact that they want a capacity larger than the swamp. The south stand was originally going to have a gable end as it were. ( use your imagination) but man city council wanted the temporary corners more tied into the east and west. Hence why currently the width of the south stand upper tier is limited somewhat. When full expansion professes the perimeter of the stadium will be significantly larger. The club will have all eyes on the crowds next year. They want to control pent up demand and phase it to suit out growth. These guys are no fools but will not go out screaming - look at what we are going to do. Wait until the collar site kicks in!!! It will make the swamp look even more third rate. Just have patience. Oh and adug are busy on starting work on the 6000 new homes. Work starting soon at murrays mills.

Yeah, sadly I think the corners look really naff too. Still, I'm hugely excited and I think the whole thing and project is fantastic. Looks brilliant from the outside. I'm just a proper pedant with all things aesthetic based, and I can't pretend the lack of symmetry in the curve of the roof doesn't really, really bug me. Likewise the way the stand just stops instead of curving round.

I was at a hotel the other week, and i found myself straightening the pictures on the wall. I can't stand things that look unfinished or not quite right. Yeah, I know that's my problem but that's just me ha. I'm not moaning for the sake of it, just voicing an opinion on what i think it looks like. Some bits look mint, others look a bit tacky. That's life though innit.

A couple of questions

Does anybody know how the Health & Fitness Centre (round the corner from 6th Form College) is coming along. Does it look anywhere near completion.

Also does anybody know if there are plans to do something with the area underneath the west stand of the mini Etihad. It looks completely bare & unused. I think the mini Etihad is brilliant & must be the envy of all other premiership clubs. My only complaint is the catering is not up to much. Two little cubby holes supplying only hot dogs, crisps, chocolate bars. I was thinking maybe this area underneath the west stand could be used for bar, seating, more catering options. Maybe have something on 2 levels as it is quite high. Just a thought.

*sniff*
