I'm sure if Sheikh Mansour had bought Charlton in 2008 fans of clubs like Liverpool would have comically said they were a club "without history".

Their demise is fully merited.

That's a bit of a harsh thing to say about Charlton ;)

Ha, must admit that's how I read it at first. I was thinking what have Charlton ever done to us? Then I remembered how much that 4-0 battering on the opening day of the 2000/2001 season pissed on my chips, and almost agreed.

Apologies if these has already been discussed.
I recall earlier chats on Abu Dhabi investment spreading further afield than the Etihad Campus/Wider East Manchester area, and it looks like it's starting to happen:

Man City bosses pour £175m into Owens Park student campus

Abu-Dhabi-based Mubadala Development Company, run by Manchester City chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak, has put up the cash to redevelop the sprawling Owens Park site in Fallowfield.

Manchester City bosses are set to pump £175m into the transformation of The University of Manchester’s Fallowfield campus.

Not sure of my geography - But is Owens Park anywhere near now defunct The Fallowfield Stadium. Which hosted an FA Cup match in the 1890's.

That didn't turn out right.
I will start again. Is Owens Park anywhere near the site of the old Fallowfield Stadium - which hosted a FA Cup final in 1893 -?

The remains of the cycle track before it was demolished.(the tower is coming down when Owens Park is redeveloped)

During my younger days I used to cycle around the track, run around the pitch, and play football on the pitch.

Re: Etihad Campus, Stadium and Collar Site Development Threa

Just had to say that I walked round the CFA today and I have to say the facilities are absolutely stunning. The pitches and buildings...........just everything!!!

Any player young and old should be inspired by the surroundings and there are now no excuses for players not to join us and not to develop

With our owners we have been truly blessed!!!!!!!
