I'm sure if Sheikh Mansour had bought Charlton in 2008 fans of clubs like Liverpool would have comically said they were a club "without history".

Their demise is fully merited.

That's a bit of a harsh thing to say about Charlton ;)

Ha, must admit that's how I read it at first. I was thinking what have Charlton ever done to us? Then I remembered how much that 4-0 battering on the opening day of the 2000/2001 season pissed on my chips, and almost agreed.

I recall earlier chats on Abu Dhabi investment spreading further afield than the Etihad Campus/Wider East Manchester area, and it looks like it's starting to happen:

Not sure of my geography - But is Owens Park anywhere near now defunct The Fallowfield Stadium. Which hosted an FA Cup match in the 1890's.

I will start again. Is Owens Park anywhere near the site of the old Fallowfield Stadium - which hosted a FA Cup final in 1893 -?

Just had to say that I walked round the CFA today and I have to say the facilities are absolutely stunning. The pitches and buildings...........just everything!!!

Any player young and old should be inspired by the surroundings and there are now no excuses for players not to join us and not to develop

With our owners we have been truly blessed!!!!!!!

Completely at a tangent; my old old man did a lot of the structural design on the toast rack near Owens Park. Frustratingly I didn't know this at school despite it being in constant view.

I was looking at what appears to be a piece of the existing roof in the top left corner, that's not just suspended from the crane is it???
