re the missing trees - noticed the last couple of season most of the trees have been going.. assumed it was to make it easier for stupid cars, and got told that last season as well when i asked! Ironic now that you can only drive in on a match day ;)

So the trees going is not much to do with any new work going on.

Nah. Someone at the club is a dendrophobic
http://common-phobias.com/dendro/phobia.htm

There is clearly an entrance to a lair of Shub-Niggurath near the stadium (“The Black Goat of the Woods with a Thousand Young”) and the employee wants to keep.the creature at bay but they've seen it one to many times and gave gone a bit gaga and have started chopping down trees as a result.

(See the Cthulhu Mythos of H. P. Lovecraft and the "The Last Test" story)

(Well it's about as sensible as a lot of the rubbish I've read on this board today.)

Who owned/ran the old social club at Maine Road ? Because I see the old bank building on the edge of the Campus on Aston new road is up for sale, I was thinking this could be a new social club (maybe a bit small) , so could the club or supporters club buy and turn it in to a new City social club ?

I became a member of the City Social club within two hours of my birth.

My dad went to wet the baby's head and City legend Roy Clarke, who ran the City club, handed him my members card.

He used to look out for my dad when we were growing up in the area, a nicer gentleman you would struggle to meet.

It was an incredible place to visit as a kid, the pool room in the front, the big room in the back and the members tap lounge.

Always used to be in awe of the huge picture of the 1956 FA Cup winning team in the foyer.

Peter Barnes ran it for a little while after and another decent bloke think was called Harry, always wore an RAF blazer?

As a kid, I used to always talk football with an old bloke who ran a paper shop around the corner on Claremont Road, called Murphys.

It wasn't until my dad took me in one day and then explained in was Jimmy Murphy, Matt Busby's legendary sidekick, that I twigged why all the old City players were always in there paying him a visit.

Was the bloke Harry Godwin, he always used to turn up at our junior blues meetings in cheadle hulme and natter on for hours

If anyone remember's the Basketall Arena from our previous 2 visits to the Nou Camp, Barcelona are redeveloping it and the wider area.

Unless plans are still be worked up on the Collar Site and on the Etihad Campus, we seem to have come to a halt on our (secret) proposals for both sites. I appreciate City give nothing away, so plans could be moving forward or at an advanced stage. Saying that, how many years has it been now since the first rumours about the proposed leisure destination, etc, surfaced?

Should turn the souvenir shop, into a new supporters club,! And build a bigger souvenir shop around the ground somewhere?

I think the idea has been for the shop to be built into the new stand and a redesigned city square to be built. I'd supposed the current shop would be knocked down as part of the redevelopment. Wouldn't mint some sort of cafe open on non match days being part of it as well.

Yes I met Roy Clarke a few times and he was just a real nice man. Used to see him in his shop, Roy Clarke `s Sports on the corner of Dickenson Road and Wilmslow Road, opposite the old Birch Villa pub and would always speak about his playing days and even after very fondly

I remember when the shop first opened, and it had a bar upstairs (plus museum), you could get a pint and other stuff on non match days. The trouble now, everything seems targeted at corporate, look's like the club as forgot about the other fans !
