Etihad Campus, Stadium and Collar Site Development Thread

Think that was / may be the case for the mini stadium front , recall on the plans that that area says something about retail or something of the likes.
But it's all very slow which I can't understand.
Infact it's all draining slow, remember when the 1st incarnation of this thread started a few years ago with some saying they have seen the plans for the collar site, and how amazing it was going to be, some saying they have laid foundations for a 40 story building that was going to be a hotel and yet a few years down the line it's still a car park.. I know these things take time but I'm starting to think that there are no plans at the moment and my dreams of spending a match day in and around a great venue with great eateries and bars with something to do with the lad will be nothing more then a Berger and pint in the wind and rain with me lad being able to kick a penalty in some inflatable nets.. O well maybe me lad will get the benefits with his kids in years to come
Can't remember who said it but there is a master plan at play here with sequential developments - the Academy was the biggy and as that was getting close the bridge was started and then the South Stand Expansion was started. Remember its only been properly finished 6 months. And nothing could start round the stadium until this year (because of the RWC game) and aren't there concerts this summer? May be when they're done we'll see the North Stand started. Anything on the collar site is way off, not least because there's the whole Planning App Saga to go through yet - I think it was a full 12 months from Planning App to South Stand Expansion start - a gap that won't happen with any planned North Stand Expansion.

I know it's going to take a while and posabley won't see the collie site for years to come, it just seems like ages since this thread was started with all the big hopes and dreams of a disney land on the site (I know we won't be getting a Disney land, I'd be happy with a print works type thing tbh )

I think they may also be waiting on building the houses in the area thay are planed, giving them custermers to use what ever entertainment venue they want to build..
Can't see it being this thing that's going to attract the numbers they came out with 4mill a year I think they said, as I don't think the space is there for somthing like a farrari world type thing.
I live and hope and hope I get to actually see it and be more happy if I can actually use it with me lad which I doubt as he is 10 now... Maybe I'll get to use any bars they may build ..

Surely the east side of the ground will be developed before the collar site is started (work out from the ground opposed to complete work around the apron of the ground and then have plant re=emerge to upgrade the east stand)

I was at a planning event at the Etihad last December. This included a presentation by Pete Bradshaw, Director of Estates Development at MCFC, followed by a walking tour of the campus. Main things in his presentation:
north stand extension planned to be all lower priced seats with no hospitality, etc - seeking to create a modern day Kippax type atmosphere;
additional elements tagged on such as conferencing, concert venue, mini-arena - to generate revenue on non-match days - i.e. 310 days per year;
the collar site to be developed as a leisure/recreation/hotel/commercial quarter - the club are researching best practice and world class examples to inform concepts and designs - the ultimate aim is to open up the whole campus around the stadium to public access and make in a vibrant leisure/recreation quarter;
additional houses and flats between the ground and City centre with new high quality pedestrian links - also looking at elevated skywalks.

What came across was how committed Pete and the development team are to deliver exemplar schemes - similar to the academy, etc. Also to get it right. Obviously there are massive commercial and investment decisions to be made, but if the result lives up to the ideas floating around now we are going to end up with a special campus which will be a high class destination 365 days of the year and not just match days and the odd concert or special event. Watch the space - I think it will be exciting.

I don't claim to be itk or anything but I think the plans are still in place for the collar site, we are just waiting for even bigger demand.

Suppose the best way of putting it is in terms of footfall, if we have say 500 milling around daily at present and we were to open a supermarket it would be an Aldi (I know Asda is over the road, this is purely hypothetical!) but in two years time we could have three times that number and open a Waitrose. So what's the point of opening an Aldi now just to bulldoze it in two years as we've outgrown it?

Even if on the pitch this season has seemed a very backwards step we continue to grow off the pitch, and with Pep coming and increased income to spend on more stellar names in future, it is more than reasonable to think we will continue to grow, and at a rapid rate, certainly over next five years.

So I'm hopeful we are just biding our time with the collar site developments thinking what is the point of opening something now when we can do bigger and better in years to come. Mansour doesn't do things by halves, just look at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. The North Stand will be done and the collar site developed, just all in good time blues!

I'm with you, I want it done and want it done now, I'm impatient, but I just think we will havt to be patient, lets just hope we don't need to be as patient with development on the pitch!

I remember when the shop first opened, and it had a bar upstairs (plus museum), you could get a pint and other stuff on non match days. The trouble now, everything seems targeted at corporate, look's like the club as forgot about the other fans !
I went up there a few times, was quite nice. There's is/was a poor substitute cafe in the athletic arena which is open to the public during the day.

Patience is a virtue.

As is being able to use spellchecker.

Some belting mistakes in many of your contributions, which are now quite entertaining. "Collie site" being my favourite of this particular post.

No doubt I'll get dog's abuse for this.

Depends on what device I'm using (and how much iv drunk) weather my spelling is poor or just outragus.

Im only on between my iPad and iPhone and never a PC so spell checking not really a option, I know my spelling and grammar is poor to start with but when I'm using my iPhone and me sossage fingers are hitting every button in site, topped with not being able see the small writing to well and rushing to get what I want to say out b4 I forget it's amazing that any of my posts get understood, I know most of them don't

glad it amuses you, and not offends you
iv had some stick from others on here in the past about it, as if there superior spelling and grammar made them better then others.
it's never held me back In life, iv been a managed a couple of business been a manager of a social services department, was a collage lecture for over 12 months teaching medication administration (serious) now that was hard work getting paperwork done.. and I now run a susesfull business built from scratch all by me self..

I do use a spell checker on my PC for the important stuff at work though , and I'd shock you with some of the policies/ prosegers and legal documents iv had to produce for my componeny , iv shocked plenty of my m8s who automatically think iv got someone in or the Mrs has done them.

Don't judge a book by its cover judge it by its wor. Erm shit .!!

when the north stand extension is completed do we have to add away seats to the current aways

eg is it another 5% of the say 6000 total north stand seats allocated to away current allocation??

and would any blues currently sat next to standard away section have to relocate because of that?
