Saw something today in an article about Manchester which suggests our training ground set up is far from finished and what we have now is phase 1 of 3 separate stages for developments around the etihad.

Yeah, more to come - I was hoping that the extension was linked to ASDA but as we all know, without any doubt at all, ASDA aint selling.?.?

Shure it would be in ASDA best intrest to work with the club and councel should we actually want the land, as untimely I'd imagine the council could force the issue and take it and also oppose any other deny them any other future new sites in the city.

There could also be Goverment backing to a development that would transformed the area , and if what we are being led to beleave will be a venue of national importance. Govermemt backing could make it hard for the ASDA group nation wide in the future plans for stores so I don't think that upping sticks and relocation is issue for ASDA think if we want the site we will get it

Well it doesn't look like it's happening any time soon. What with the planning permission for a new DW gym or whatever it is at asda

Chatting to the staff there last week, apparently it's been a very poor year for turnover, bonuses are low but as you say there's huge investment being ploughed into the store, with a complete restructure.

Said in a earlier post that I don't think we have plans for the ASDA site, tbh I don't think we have plans what so ever at the moment, was just referring to the thought that if they wanted the land to build this venue of national significance I wouldn't imagine ASDA putting up to much resistance.

so with the ASDA site off the table that gives us limited space to build something monumental and of national importance attracting the 4 mill plus a year as was the figures the club or people seemingly close to the club talked about way back when

If you take into account 1.25 million there for the football there would still need to be 110k people there a week around 15k visitors a day to make these figures up to 4mill a year

The only thing in the uk that comes close to that (as of 2014) is the tower of London with around 3million visitors a year but that has a captive ordiance as there are hundreds of thousand tourists around there to begin with.
After that it's Westminster Abby with around 1.7 million a year, quite a drop in numbers
There are only 14 paid to enter venues in the uk drawing in a million or more with all but flamingo land being in London or the south
After flamingo land you have tattoo park as the biggest puller in the north with 800k

Just can't see where the visitors to make 4 mill will come from and where will they all go space wise as 15k a day visiting a site as small as the collar site would be quite a squeeze and very bizzy

I don't recall anyone saying 4 million visitors a yr, i recall 1 million a yr not counting the football crowd.

The planning permission for a gym over on the Asda site is'nt indicating how long it will be staying (the gym)..club shop style buildings can be thrown around like tents nowadays...anyone know how long is left on Asda's lease?

A tattoo park might just do it but I would have thought the extra numbers would be made up from various attractions and events... Stadium concerts, hotel, business conferences, exhibitions, retail... rather than a single attraction.

There are some plans, I think JRB has seen them but quite rightly won't say any more. The question is how current those plans are / were. I don't know whether they included the Asda site or not but I've always assumed they were bigger than the collar site and included all the car parks. I was hoping bringing in the Chinese investment would see some movement, but wouldn't expect any work until after the North Stand extension.
I was wondering if anybody with s/c for the back rows of the North stand had been told anything about renewals, weren't the back of the SS taken out during the extension?
