Etihad Campus, Stadium and Collar Site Development Thread

The plans have always been for incremental developments of the stadium and surrounding area.

The CFA took up 2 years of development time and money and I suspect the Collar Site will come after the next stand at the Etihad, but I think they should snag the work they have done to date before they move on.

They won't. Because the programme was tight the stand was rushed. Literally competed with seconds to spare. Tens of thousands of people have passed through it at concerts and matches. Impossible now to agree what is a snag and what is wear and tear.

We don't need a new stadium, I like the Etihad just fine, looks great to me, could be expanded and perhaps tided up a bit for the shoddy bits done on the south stand expansion but I expect they plan on doing that, after the north stand expansion they can sort the roof out properly and the rest will be easy to smooth out.

A new stadium is miles off 20 years or so... you heard it here first.

Does seem unlikely based on recent construction.

Guardiola's arrival represents an opportunity to fill any new capacity and the bigger the better. The ground is full, we have a waiting list, and permission to build. We should be pushing forward on all fronts.

When was the certificate of practical completion issued? I can't see city pushing it through just to suit the Contrator.

To my knowledge, under this form of contract, there wouldn't necessarily be a PC cert. Everything is under contractor control. If the client wants to hit them for LAD's they do later.

It was achieved at the trial event 3 days before the opening game. Very rushed at the end. Reflects in the quality.

Not the first time the contractor has suffered this. Ask anyone involved in Angel Square...

The new souvenir shop will be behind sumerbees bar when the north stand is expanded. Will be announced at some stage early this season. Expect to see a planning application for the new souvenir shop fairly soon. The works on that will commence first. Old souvenir shop will go when stand is expanded. Lots of upgrading works on corporate facilities starting as soon as the concerts are done.

Cheers, where will City Square go , during the work, and then after will it be a newer version where the old shop is?
