There's also another tower (larger than that above) planned directly across the road (right next to the City Inn):

Also 'imminent' as it happens (started clearing the interior out ready for demolition apparently).

I'm pretty sure that's the same site, just taken from the reverse angle. I think the second one is the updated proposal that's going ahead.

But it's completely different when the athletics is on.

For the football season the entire lower tier moves inwards and covers the running track to bring them next to the pitch.
Nearer to the pitch rather than next to it I think, although it's hard to tell from the pics. The cheap £289 season tickets however are band 5 and will be at the back (non movable tier) presumably along with the away fans. Bring your binoculars.

Completely different projects Shaelumtash (opposite sides of the road.
There's a building on that plot above at the moment. The Axis plot is empty (new foundations soon going in).
Jusr round the corner from both are the Owen Street towers (four skyscrapers)...would be a nuts skyline if they all went ahead...

Mate went to the athletics last week and sat behind where one of the goals will be and just behind where the extractable seating will go and said the site line was already poor as the tiers are too shallow and the extractable seating is even lower, couple sat next to him were Hammers and they weren't happy at all with it confirming the views already posted that it looks like an athletics stadium hosting football , they also weren't happy with colour of the seats and seeing that they got the stadium for next to nothing can't understand why they haven't paid to have more West Ham coloured seating to put in. Have some knowledge of the extractable seating arrangement and it basically temparary seating with a scaffold base covered at the exposed areas such as the sides front and back with either sheeting or if it's likely to remain in place for a longer period of time plywood/mdf, so from inside it will still look added, in real terms just a bit more refined that the Gene Kelly stands at Maine Road.

Are you sure mate? I've seen both images before and I thought they both related to the small plot of land in between the back of Sugar Buddah on Deansgate locks, and the old Bauer Millet car park.

The images are taken from opposite sides of the building, making it appear they are opposite sides of the road. The first image is taken from the side as if you were approaching from HOME, and the 2nd image is taken as if you were approaching from the Bridgewater Hall side. The opposite side of the road is where the Hacienda apartments are.

Either way, it's exciting times for Manchester.

I sit towards the back of the new South Stand and if I forget my glasses I'm really struggling, I think it is still significantly better than some of the worse views at the West Ham ground. Pity really.

100% sure. Same architects by the way.
Here's a rare image of them together:

Ah ok cheers mate, I didn't realise. Yeh really exciting all of these developments. There's all of the Chinese money going in to Middlewood Locks to the west and the ADUG development to the east, the city is going to look very different in 5 years time.

I just hope the change at the top doesn't stop the Northern Powerhouse development, Osbourne for all his faults had real faith in Manchester. If Burnham gets the mayoral gig I wonder if that will affect the council's relationship with City and ADUG?

Leese and Bernstein have been superb for City and they are obviously big blues, Burnham being an Evertonian might be a bit more "by the book" when agreeing deals and partnerships with ADUG.

I think the City is probably powering on regardless who jumps on it's bandwagon (much as Gid did to promote the city - perhaps more so than any labour counterpart may have done). Those projects mentioned just now are one of very many...mind blowing amount of investment (don't forget the Airport and the investment there too).
What's interesting is this thread started when all hopes were pinned on the 'leisure site' and that being the main hub of investment in the city. That's gone very quiet whilst elsewhere else is on fire. Really hoping something is brewing in the background rather than a damp squib post North Stand.
