It looks nice and pretty but West Ham's new joint is terrible to me.

Seats way far back and on a weird angle
Concrete slabs up top
Temporary seating/scaffolding in the lower section making it look like Frankenstein's monster as well as a OH&S issue waiting to happen

No idea why they needed to spend that much money on "converting" it. Their fans will starting moaning and hating on it pretty soon me thinks. It isn't a patch on our ground now and certainly won't be when the next extension is done.
Our ground isn't great though neither. Small tiers don't make for a good football stadium. They don't allow for a good atmosphere as fans are too split up.

If they do a one-tier super stand at the North Stand end and call it the Bert Trautmann Stand that might change all that but I doubt that will happen.

Why not get one of them adrenaline junkies to shin up the wire with a blue bulb in his gob and let him have a free base jump from the top ?
Win/win to me :+)

great shout that. get 12 of them doing it at the same time with City parachutes and that's a back page spread in the rag tops the next day, and a full centre page spread in "Adrenaline Nutters Monthly"

free publicity, fixed bulbs, adrenaline nutters happy...win, win, win!!! :)

The atmosphere was often turning to absolute zero during the first game & their once loud 'bubbles' song sonded like a half arsed 'blubbbbubbubllles' because there is no focus in the acoustics, just a big empty, soulless space, with the sound echoing round. A really bad sign for a first game.

When all 57k are shouting at the top of their voices, then it will be loud as fuck, just like our place, but imo when their crowd behave like a typical modern day football crowd, which is all they did at the old ground anyhow, then rather than 1k fans sounding loud & getting the rest siging & livening it up, as it would at their old place, it will sound like a fart at the opposite end of an aircraft hanger & the atmos won't travel, so it will die a death. That's our problem but by the sound of it, theirs is far worse. It looks & sounds like what it is, a big athletics stadium.

It comes accross on tv as fucking horrible imo. The worst of all the modern grounds. A great pity one of the last remaining proper football grounds has gone, to be replaced by that. But much easier for us to pick up 3 points there.

Be fine v Spurs etc but on the whole a stadium that size needs big players to fill it & create a buzz to lift the crowd.

They could go the full hog and take an ironing board up there and do the kit at the same time !!

Is that a question or a statement?

I posted re lights on support posts being replaced, was at the ground the week before first game and a cherry picker was right at the top of the supports so asked a workman on the site were the blue lights being replaced and he confirmed they were. Possible more of problem than just replacing bulbs ? Would imaging they take quite a bashing from the elements up their so just wondering if the fittings/wiring are goosed !

Anyone have a drawing of how it will look when finnished??

Just a few FACTS on West Ham Utd. - . Newham Council had set the attendance to be 57,000.
BBC gave the actual attendance as 56,997. Only 3 seats short ???. A West Ham record for any ground they have called home.

The following is part of BBC match report.

""For the most part the home supporters were fairly quiet, though, with the vast arena meaning they are not as close to the pitch.

In fact, the noise levels were so low the travelling Bournemouth contingent chanted "is this the Emirates?" in reference to the atmosphere at Arsenal's stadium."""

In my view the Olympic Stadium was iconic - great Olympic games.

West Ham and/or the owners LS Group have now called it the London Stadium.

Newham Coucil have guaranteed the capacity will be increased to 60,000 - in the very near future.

T
heir Chairman - Gold , has said recently they will push it up to 65,000 in a year or two.

In my view the seats are a long way from the pitch , large area to fill with noise , but why should we be so "cocky" about their crowd noise when the Etihad is very quiet sometimes.

Posters on this board are always complaining about this.

It is on record that West Ham Utd got a very cheap deal off the LS Group - I think it is a rental of £15M per annum. Spurs and Leyton Orient complained bitterly about this.

So at the moment we have the 4th largest capacity after Rags , Arse , and Whammers. Do not know when Dippers will finish their "increase" - to 59,000.

Also the now London Stadium will revert back to Athletics for the World Championships in 2017.
