Etihad Campus, Stadium and Collar Site Development Thread

If the two tier design could be done it may mean loosing more or all the seats in level 2 as it's built or is this not the case ? Perhaps somebody with engineering or architecture background could advise. My money is till on three tiers with current South Stand cooperate spaces being used for something like a new ticket office / club shop.

i dont think thats a problem losing seats/level 2 as its built. in the long term it would be better and provide us with an amazing stand. i wouldn't like an exact copy of the south stand. why not make it different ? unique ?. one huge tier = better atmosphere and less corporate.

There's not doubt that the next phase of the ground development is imminent as Worsley and others have impeccable insight in that regard.

The wider developments seem to have stalled though, and those challenges are going to be far more difficult to overcome than the filling the extra seats.

I was lucky enough to get a tour around the CFA a while back and the quality of everything was incredible so when people talk about the poor finish and maintenance of the stadium it creates a confusing picture of where priorities lie.

I was blown away with the size and scale of the campus developments when I saw them a few years ago but now I wonder if the lack of infrastructure, and the sheer scope of what was in play back then has stumped ADUG. Have they bitten off more than they could chew?

I noticed that the Media City site is to be doubled in size so in a way there is a lot of construction site competition from that quarter.
Is it also a possibility that the site itself is short on utilities eg electrical power to service expansion etc.?
ADUG themselves have been active in financing other Manchester based projects so perhaps things need to grow outwards towards Eastlands before it can be truly seen to be a viable area. Transport is often mentioned as being inadequate especially on match days but is it sufficient for a large commercial multi faceted development that we all would like to visualise ?

I agree that ADUG are unlikely to go it alone so new players are needed, but how urgent is this from even the ADUG perspective. Perhaps they will be happy to sit on their land holding and develop as and when the growth catches up with Eastlands.

It could be a problem as it's the family stand, not sure with currently circa 46k season tickets holders how you would relocate families who will need to be sat together, that's about 3k who would need finding the required seating in groups of say up to five a piece in some cases. Current capacity is about 55400 less 3500 for visitors and less 3000 from the family stand, by my calculation that leaves about just under 3000 seats dotted around each stand remaining. Perhaps they could reduce the away seats and keep the top South Stand Level 3 for home supporters but it would be a logistical niightmare. The more you think about it I can only see it being the same three tier configuration as the South Stand unless the could build it two tiers without closing level two

Sure they could build top down and sort the middle tier merging into the upper tier in the close season. (If This is happening in the form I envisage - the exact quote I was told by someone working on it was that there would be no corporate and a different design more like a kop end above the lower tier"

Hope it can be done as it would be mint, can't you squeeze any more info from your sources, mine only has the info on definately going ahead in the new year and on it having less corporate spaces.

I have a few mate to be fair. I am ex Laing and know quite a few who have worked on it. Also have a mate at city build who do the fit out of the corporate and have been pretty much on and off on the stadium smaller projects for years. I know John stemp has a long term vision for the stadium and he has not failed to deliver so far.
