It's pretty impressive how quickly it's gone up, and the stadium should look great next season.

It'll be interesting to see when/if they go ahead with the North Stand redevelopment. I was told by someone at the club that there were no plans to go ahead with it at present. I guess they're just waiting to see what demand is like once the South Stand is complete. They obviously won't just do it for the sake of it.

With respect, I don't know what 'for the sake of it' means.

Criteria such as image and potential increases in revenue spring to mind. As has been said, pricing can always be adjusted accordingly. Until it is built, how can the demand be fully assessed?

As I have often said, the Emiratis do love building big. Anyway, we'll see.

That's a good point and although a lot of blues concern themselves over this empty seat counting that the media love to do in this country, I don't believe our owners will be too concerned by it. Barca rarely sell out but the capacity is there for major games. The San Siro similarly is widely regarded and well known but rarely full. Even Wembley is often short of being full.

Having a fantastic stadium around 60,000 seats will help improve our brand and will look a lot bigger and better. Taking the stadium from 54,000 up to 60,000 is a ten percent increase. The club should easily be able to fill that ten percent through pricing, marketing and depending on the game.

If we average 54,300 but hit 60,000 in the big games then it is worth it and I think we can do that.

I agree. There is also the prestige of having a stadium that can bid for Champions league finals etc.

We will not stop until its the biggest and best stadium in Europe, only the time scale is up for debate imo.

If they go straight ahead with the other end then the earliest it would be ready is 2017/18. I think the club would be anticipating being able to get 60,000 on a fairly regular basis by then. I can't imagine them waiting until 2018 or 19 and being caught short. The other point I don't know much about but wouldn't it be better to keep the cranes and equipment on site as well as the people who have worked on the South stand.

This is a good point. Maybe the Giant Cranes are contracted / due on another job somewhere in Europe.

I heard the cranes were bought and a new company was set up by our owners after they realised how much money could be made by hiring them out.

I mean look at the difference ^. BOOM it's there now. Looked soft before. Makes the whole stadium look like it means business (well, apart from the north stand on the other side that we can't see!)

it always looked unimposing due to the fact the bottom tier is below floor level, it now/will look like it should

Like Barcalona's stadium - but looks fine on the inside ;-)

Re: Etihad Campus, Stadium and Collar Site Development Threa

Could anyone who is ITK etc answer a query for me?

When the CFA was in development, the general consensus was that it's completion would have sponsors falling over themselves to throw huge amounts of cash at us for naming rights/sponsorship of such things as mini Etihad, power generation, 1st team training facilities, training kit etc and that this cash would help towards us throwing off the shackles of FFP.

Apart from a couple of million from Suisse gas for the bridge, there seems to have been nothing that is immediately forthcoming apart from rumours of possible deals with SAP/Nike/Citibank and an enhanced Etihad deal. I would have thought that an improved Etihad deal was a given regardless of the CFA, especially in light of recently announced deals elsewhere. I'm not suggesting our guys don't have a handle on it, and generally operate beneath the radar (am I answering my own question here?) but seems on the face of it that we are missing a trick here ?

I think you did answer your own question, I don't believe our guys miss much in the way of wringing out cash and I like the fact that we don't conduct business in the rumourland of social media and press leaks.

Re: Etihad Campus, Stadium and Collar Site Development Threa

Perhaps the 'big' deals will be announced at the start of next season so they can run for full seasons rather than 1/2 years?

I hope so anyway as I too thought we'd be producing proper £M deals.

Nothing to worry about. Our income is the fastest growing in the history of sport.

Bit of a boring question but with the roof now sloping downwards how will the drainage work?

Water will run off to a gutter at the front which then drains to the corners and two new super drains in the lowest corners - visible in the CGI's.

Re: Etihad Campus, Stadium and Collar Site Development Threa

ah right, does this have any implications if we try to expand the corners in the future?

sure they can over come it - design is very much future proofed.

Re: Etihad Campus, Stadium and Collar Site Development Threa

Just got an e-mail off the FA....England U21 women v Germany U21 women at the Academy Stadium on the 9th April.....would this be extra income for city or are clubs obliged to host these types of games?
