The tickets West Ham returned are on sale at £30 I presume that's what West Ham got them for as well which for London based fans is a bargain.

That's a great deal, I wondered what they would price the new third tier tickets up at if any got returned, very good from city.

What if City were to build a school/s? or a some science park, or even a new hospital etc? There's so much more than just sport than can be built to bridge the gap between sport and the community. Manchester City, like most clubs, was once about a community (in the true geographical sense). Why not the same again, where Manchester is once again represented by Manchester City, and Salford can do what they like with their lot.
Imagine a state of the art hospital for kids (like Great Ormond Street) but in the Northwest - Manchester City Children's Hospital. Or a cancer research centre etc. Football ACTUALLY doing something positive. Talk about football actually making a different to people's lives? if our owners really want impact, something like that would beat any theme park / hotel hands down.

Our club COULD represent a lot more than sport. A pipe dream perhaps, but where we are now was a pipe dream a few years ago.

In fairness to the rags they have given considerable support to the teenage and young people's cancer unit at Christies, as have a number of past City owner/legends.

One thing is certain.. This thread is as strong as ever [emoji6]

Been up at the ground this morning and loads of work still going on at the South Stand. The glass weather protection panels being added to the gaps at both ends and work being done to the metal mesh by the stairways. Also a trimming being added along the complete length at the top of the roof, helpful workman said it would house lighting, he also said the Giants screens are going in once the corners are weather proof. Once all the finishing is complete its going to look even better it really is an awesome stand.

That wasn't the point. The point us that City could do some amazing things outside of football too. Be it schools, hospitals, affordable homes etc, all part of transforming Manchester and demonstrating how sport can change communities on a grand scale.
I've no idea what the plans for the continued development will be, but they don't have to be limited to retail parks, hotels or casinos etc. They could (in theory) be something much more significant.

Is it me or is away support getting worse?

Lost count of the times last season where the away end was sparse

Maybe the price increases really are starting to impact core support across the country
Fans have started talking with their feet with regards to away games in the last few years. Instead of paying for tickets and then moaning about the price, a fair few clubs' fans have just not bought the tickets - which makes much more sense.

The thing is when people get used to not going to games, they find other things to do or other cheaper ways of watching the games and that may become the norm for them. So we've seen in the last few years when we've charged away fans a lot of money that they just don't come year after year: Villa Stoke WestBrom to name but three, all big enough clubs with big enough support and close enough to us to easily shift 3000 away tickets but they just don't bother coming to our place anymore. One year we charged WB fans about £45-50 for a Monday night game that was on Sky, that's not on really. I don't blame fans for starting to not attend away matches.

Money mate its that simple plus the thought of a wasted trip given out home form these last few years ;-)

That's very true. I think most teams write off the game at City. Very few exceptions, apart from the big boys who sometimes get something.

I think for many newly promoted (and haven't been before teams) - The Etihad is on the list of 'to do' trips, even if a defeat is expected. I think we've now become one of the big away days.

Anything on the collar site is likely to be related to the football club for FFP purposes so Hospitals and schools are unlikely on that particular land. That's why it's ADUG and not City building these 6,000(?) houses and investing in Manchester University with the student accommodation and the Graphene research centre. I presume it was CFG who donated the land for the 6th form school and put money towards the Beswick hub (I think).

All this x 1000! ADUG have pumped millions into Manchester and not just city!

Yeah for FFP, anything non football related would hurt us, so would have to come from elsewhere, but I don't think that's a huge deal if the world knew we were behind it.
Practically, on the existing site, it's not going to be a hospital, I know that, but I still like the notion of something as socially significant as that. I'm not against sports facilities or hotels etc, I'm just thinking in terms of true impact, something like a hospital would be hard to beat (I think you know what I mean).

The housing project tells me City are thinking this way too. Making a social difference would be something few clubs have really done to a significant extent, and none have done to great extent. I'd love us to the first to do so.

I have just been watching one of the kids train at the academy. It is truly incredible that city are opening up this facilities to young mancunians. I was stood next to two rag dads praising the place. It has transformed the area

TBH, I think you're getting ADUG & the CFG mixed up, they're two very separate entities. It may be that the reflected kudos from one falls on the other but I don't think they should really (admittedly I may be very wrong :) ).

Is it the blue pitch they open up?

What access does the college have?

This is what our club is about. A club for the community and for Manchester. For everyone around who wants to be involved, they can be. We are lucky to have owners who share this idea. The regeneration of the area tells you all you need to know from the outside, never mind the inside. It's amazing what these 'big bad moneybags Arab money masters' have done for Manchester.
