I was told that the East Stand, North Stand & Colin Bell roofs are of poor quality and will need to be replaced within 15 years max (judging by the number leaks that are starting to appear that time frame may be optimistic). The ends of these stands also don't really match with the enlarged South Stand (and future North Stand) so I expect the the pronounced curvature at the back of these stands to be reduced with more seats at the back of the stands at either end. This will be probably be done when the roofs are eventually replaced. Hopefully this will also give us extra exits at the top of both stands onto the spirals.
Bingo! A new roof to encompass the whole stadium with extra rows being added at the back. That'll bump up the capacity a bit. ;)

This is what we need to hide the concrete, some proper cladding!! ;-)

Great picture Tailspin747 and brought back so many memories for me both of match going and playing in and around there as a kid. My mate use to live on Lowestoft Street and when you came out his front door and looked left you saw the Main Stand at the top of the street.

Check out some of those motors! [emoji41][/QUOTE]

Ah 1982

Blimey - my car was the maroon Jag..........................well I can dream...........great pic.

That superb pic was taken no earlier than 1983, the red car behind the lamp-post has a "Y" reg plate.

I still miss those floodlights, you could see them from miles away, a real Manc landmark.
Is it an Austin Ambassador?

Austin Ambassador? Austin fucking Ambassador!!! None of that Brummy Longbridge shite here - that's a classic Dagenham Dustbin otherwise known as Ford Cortina MkV (Cortina 80 for the nitpickers) - the very end of the line too, probably a Crusader model
I was thinking it was a Cortina at first but didn't realise they were still making them in 1983.

wasn't in the original plans - if you can find planning app 104315 it would have been in 104315-dpp-0005 and the North Stand Lower Tier area looks no different than the South Stand equivalent - having said that I think anything relating to the North Stand in those plans is now seriously outdated

to my laymans eyes, the footprint of an expanded north stand would take us close to the club shop if not on it?

actually not - at its deepest it would barely breach the first pavement line that encircles the ground - the stage would have to go but eyeballing a bing maps aerial I'd say the stand would take no more than one third of the space between the front of the shop and the back of the existing stand

Can't stand the suspense of waiting for the ground to be finished. I wish the club would just come out and say you know what, fuck it, we're gonna expand the remaining 3 sides and not bother with these surveys and shite. Or words to that effect!

there you go, shows you what i know!?
then the city square would obviously be compromised, the flow of people around the new stand on a match day would make it nonviable?
