Was'nt it said on here when the remedial (is that the reet word?) work was completed on the collar site..that the ground although being above old mine shafts could stand 40 storey biuldings.

I don't see the point in building a skyscraper there. There's plenty of ground space to build a good size hotel of high quality without needing to go up and up and up. I can't see the owners plowing money into one in that location, there's not currently enough around there for the views to be noteworthy.

I cant remember what the exact number was but I posted something ages ago that was to expect the tallest building to be 15 storeys or thereabouts.

Think the maximum height of a building which could be built on the site of the ex-mine was between 30 and 35 stories. Of course that could have been pure quess work at the time.

Agreed. Beetham tower is horrendous. bland and uninspiring.

+1. And it looks like half the windows were blown out in a bomb and they couldn't find the same colour glass to replace them with.

They've started to complete the exterior of the spiral staircase areas. They've added curved beams and I suspect the mesh will soon be replaced with glass.

MCC is very much the junior partner in this particular relationship. I think we can safely say that whoever's asked to work on it will be the choice of ADUG.

How far into the time limit imposed for the handover of the Collar Site to the JV?

I think we have a few years left yet but iirc we only had 10 years to break ground or hand the land back to the council?

My memory suggests fifteen starting from sometime back in 2012, but I'll check later on.
