The new advertising screens around the pitch make them look massive

Only works for TV and main stand though. As any image won't line up if you're sat at either end

I must admit once you notice them they do start to do you’re head in, but I suppose being noticeable is what advertisers dream of

They're behind each other, not above and below.

It's an optical illusion. They've placed them far enough behind the front ones (maybe a bit higher?) for them to look like one big sign, from the camera gantry only.

We could use computer generated fans sat in seats, at least the empty blue seat jibes would stop.

Whats being built or planned to be be built ? Or is everything completed that we know about other than the arena ?

Is the Beswick / Connell 6th form / Sports Science Stuff all completed ? google maps seems to show a construction site and lots of waste ground and I think an empty building that was supposed to be turned into something was it an old police station

Google maps satellite view isn't in real time, Street view usually even more so but the Beswick Hub, Connell College and the Institute of Health & Performance are definitely there (have been for quite a while).

The desktop version of Google Earth has a slider that lets you see aerial views of the campus over time.

Great site that. I love looking at these and comparing them with modern images, trying to pick out what still exists. For instance, the large silo (I assume it's a full gasometer) next to the gasometer on the left - you can still see the footprint of it on Google Maps - anyone know when it was removed?

And the circular shape to the right of the other gasometer, that still forms the entrance to the park but most of it has gone.

Ahh, the little triangle just north of the Leisure Centre? I missed that, doesn't appear to have any planning permission applications except for an extension to an advice centre next to St. Bridgets


The old police building looks to have been approved for demolition just last November (cost >£500,000 !!!) with no confirmation of what replaces it. (presuming I've got the right building)

They're building a Starbucks on the corner of Asda car park. Must be the world class tourist attraction people were talking about...

On a serious note, not sure if it means anything or nothing that Starbucks have chosen to build there, may be a sign of more investment coming to the area?
