Etihad Campus, Stadium and Collar Site Development Thread

Was looking at the Sport City website recently
https://sportcity-manchester.com
and as well as all the sports catered for there is a mention of a Regional Casino & Entertainment Complex

Got me thinking what I would like to see being built on the collar site, theres been talk of hotels and shopping complexes.
What about an indoor Belle Vue? A mini theme park with big thrill rides as well as arcades containing the casino machines as well as video games. Call it EA world, showcasing all their latest games (a bit like the current EA gamezone, but on a so much grander scale) and have different areas for all the existing and historical consoles. A sort of gaming museum, could have guest appearances by our current e-sports players. It could have numerous indoor sports related attractions, using latest technology
Abu Dhabi have Ferrari World, an indoor theme park that was once the biggest in the world, overtaken by one in Dubaii, so it would be a bonus for Sheikh Mansoor to be linked with one to compete with all the other major indoor parks.
It would solve one of the main problems UK theme parks have, rain hampers our enjoyment of them for the majority of the summer.
We could even have an indoor event hall like the old Kings Hall, but make sure its bigger and better than all the other local ones.
Ir would definitely be an attraction to give the owners what they want, something to bring 365 days a year footfall to the campus and surrounding area

Anyone else have a dream as to what our fantastic owners can add to our already fantastic destination?

Would love to see a version of belle vue come back to Manchester!

Driving past the Etihad this week noticed there is a funfair opened on the collar site at the end nearest the bridge.
Definitely had me thinking of a more permanent fixture for us all to enjoy before and after games and on none match days.
It looked dwarfed by the size of the entire collar site too, plenty of space for a much larger 'theme park' rather than just a funfair.

Our other local (well Lancashire) theme park is Blackpool Pleasure Beach, that sits in 42 acres, whilst Belle Vue at its biggest covered 165 acres, but that included 68 acres of walled gardens, and space was also used by 2 lakes, the zoo, plus Speedway and Greyhound stadiums, so the funfair and events/dancing buildings probably covered less than half of that.

If the academy site was around 80 acres, then the collar site doesnt look far off that, so we could fit 2 blackpool pleasure beaches in and that would just be one the ground floor.
Plenty of potential to have multiple floors containing all that Belle Vue and Blackpool had offer and then some... How I would love to see the Bobs making a return to Manchester, along with a Big (ger!!!) One, plus loads more innovative attractions showcasing the best that City, Manchester, ADUG and EA (along with other sponsors input, perhaps a Nissan Skyline GTR/Gran Turismo simulation) have to offer

At least those ads for the fast pour system seem to have disappeared from the TVs over the bars. That was just rubbing salt in the wound.
I’m adamant they were taking the piss with those adverts!

Attended a supporters club meeting last night in Alkrington attended by representatives of the club who did a Q&A and there were some very interesting bits the came up:

1. The club will be redeveloping the North Stand and are looking at the prospect of redeveloping it as a single tier stand!!
2. There are plans for a new larger superstore although this will still be a standalone rather than incorporated into the new stand.
3. City Square to relocated as part of the redevelopment, will be made larger, with more food and drink concessions, and be partially covered.
4. Smaller fanzones around the south end of the ground.
5. multi storey car parks to take up the slack when land around the collar site is redeveloped.
6. The lights on top of the spikes are very expensive to replace - damage caused by birds!
7. Collar site to feature varied retail and food outlets alongside University buildings. Development of these are to be such as not to effect the imposing nature of the stadium.

The club will continue to do things not seen at other grounds and work for some of the up and coming developments could begin in the next 18 months subject to the relevant approvals/consultations..
