The salary cap may have saved the game as many clubs were paying unsustainable wages even with the big stars and bigger crowds.

Not sure that the salary cap has been the saviour.

Most clubs will be capable of managing their finances with or without a salary. The cap has been in place for what feels like around 20 years but it has not stopped various clubs going to the wall and having to start again.

RL in this country has simply been badly managed and the expansion attempts have been managed very poorly. Who'd a thought parachuting in fake clubs with no fanbase would not work?

Two many thick in arm, thick in head people involved in RL administration. They have lacked imagination and vision. All very sad, really.

The salary cap restricts clubs like Leeds, Saints, Wigan and Warrrington while clubs like Wakefield etc refuse to invest anything at all. Some of the grounds/facilities in Super League are an utter disgrace and belong back in the 70s. The game needs to be allowed to grow but there are clubs who are holding it back.
Spot on!

Not entirely true - their home games were at Maine Road for a while after WW2

Played their European home legs at out place too in the 60's. Given our (misplaced) kindness its even more gaoling that they had that bloody sign up for all those years - no class that lot.

Still being called Swinton is generous as they’ve been nomads and not played in Swinton since leaving Station Road since early 90s.
Yes 1992 was the last game at station Rd. They play at Haywood Rd Sale now. Had some great times watching Swinton. They still have a hard core of about 500-600
