Ok. When the Hydro was first built there were a small number of hotels. There are many more now as the Hydro has attracted them. You are correct that there are bars in the hotel but that’s about it. That area (Finnieston) could still do with a good few more bars and places to eat.I've only been a couple of times but my memory of it is that there are already quite a few hotels, bars, restaurants all around that pacific quay area where the hydro is. If you stay at one of those hotels, there was enough to do to keep you occupied pre and post event.
Compare that to the etihad campus and realistically there is nothing to do at all at the moment other than watch a match.
60,083Probably been mentioned on here that the capacity once the north stand has been built would be 60,000. I’m wondering if it might be slightly more.
A bar/hospitality suit at the top level of the stand with a panoramic view of the pitch through a glazed elevation.A Sky Bar being what exactly? Can't say I've seen any mention of it on here.

I am hopeful that a similar pattern will be followed for the Manchester arena and it will attract multiple hotels and other leisure venues to the area. And quickly.
It’s ironic that not far away, Bolton wanderers have far more leisure amenities within the stadium environs than we do.
Hopefully with a James Bond style ejection seatA bar for the Sky freeloaders to eat and drink
Odd-job likes this post !!Hopefully with a James Bond style ejection seat
The Away end was full of those on Sunday!Hopefully with a James Bond style ejection seat
Only cos it was built miles away from the Town, it's in HorwichThe big difference with Bolton's ground is it's so bloody easy to get to from the Motorway where as whichever way you try to get to ours you end up sat in traffic for an hour
Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha haThe Away end was full of those on Sunday!

7,500 safe standing in proposed/new stand.
Yeah they are lucky that middlebrook is right next door, but it gives match day goers plenty of places to eat and drink before the game. Hopefully with the building of the arena there is a real push from developers and it happens pretty fast. Also when you think of the residential development between the ground and Piccadilly, there is such a huge gap in that kind of thing.Ok. Confirmed? I don’t know, Just little snippets that I’ve been told. I suppose we will have to wait and seeHas that been confirmed/ where would the safe standing be?
I hope that’s right as it could mean a home end
Middlebrook is 15 minutes from me. I don't think the ground there is the main attraction as they only get 15,000 or so on once a week nowadays. The retail park is the main attraction and it's always mega busy on there so the restaurants sort of make more sense.Yeah they are lucky that middlebrook is right next door, but it gives match day goers plenty of places to eat and drink before the game. The Etihad obviously is full every week but I suppose the problem is what happens to these restaurants and bars during the week when we aren't playing? No-one is going to go out of town to the ground except when a games on so it will be empty most of the time. I suppose the new arena will change things a little.
I still think City Square could be improved and built up more, especially before the tram bridge so alongside the arena it's a bit like Wembley Way but with bars and restaurants instead of flats.
