Etihad Campus, Stadium and Collar Site Development Thread

Thanks for the later link. Doesn't sound olike there'll be anything happening, apart from possibly demolition, in the near future.
There is a lot of land there, not only on the footprint of the gasometer but the overground pipework that seems to run between the two (I assume it's defunct). There's potentially a good site for a tram-train stop near where that pipework runs down the side of the railway line, and plenty of extra parking space, plus I think better access to and from the campus for cars and pedestrians would be possible to help relieve some of the traffic at the Briscoe Lane and Bradford Rd junctions. I assume that land is owned by National grid and the club would be interested in it if they have no plans.

Not looking promising by June of this year.

"National Grid, which owns the gasholders, has now been given permission to demolish one of the rusting structures - at the old Saxon Street Gasworks off Bradford Road in Miles Platting.

Plans to bulldoze a second disused gasholder off Alan Turing Way are expected to be submitted to Manchester City Council in the coming months. National Grid claims there are no firm plans for either site once the gasholders have been removed."
Not sure people with 'big jobs from London' are moving to Miles Platting.

You'd be surprised, they're marketing the new-builds there as Platting Village to young professionals and they are buying them. Some of the terraces around there go pretty quick too. The buyers aren't weighed down with the Manc back story, they just know it's near town, near Ancoats, in move in condition and great value compared to London.

Same way, the Maine Place estate, built where the old place was, brought more young professionals and key workers from outside into Moss Side, and Riverside will bring more to Collyhurst. If you'd walked down Palmerston Street in the 90s and someone would've told you that people would be fighting to live in Ancoats and that the Sunday Times would be pushing it every week, you would've thought they'd lost it, but it's all happened.

I can assure you the people working on the site have greater imaginations than people who post on bluemoon.

:)
Are they designing a Tele transportation system whereby after the game we can type our home addresses in our mobile phones, stand on a plate and be instantly transported into our own front rooms? If so do the designers think this will will prevent the fire drill that occurs 10 mins before the final whistle has been blown?

Imagine if something like this did happen and if a mistake occured and all our atoms got jumbled up with each other. I wonder what a chimera of bluemoon posters would look like?

People will still be leaving on 85 when they’re adding on 10 minutes like at the WC!

Can work really start next year. Concerts already announced next year and the weekend have just been added today. Staging is at the North Stand so surely to much to have two building sites with ongoing construction and staging for gigs too?
Would summer 24 not be more likely?
