Etihad Campus, Stadium and Collar Site Development Thread

When the Coop Live Arena is open for concerts and events, double trams every 6 minutes.

Confirmed by Ben Tipple, the arena's sustainable initiatives at the Open Doors Event Yesterday.

The walking route along the tramline route is also going to be redeveloped, better lighting, art works, pop up bars, buskers, etc to get more people to walk to and from the arena. Not along the canal as it’s deemed as too dangerous.

Nothing about additional buses.

Shame about the lack of bus development, not to say it won’t happen in time though I guess. Really that’s the best option to get those of us in the burbs away en mass without going through the choke points into the city centre.

as regards improving walking options into town that sounds great, but imperative that in the climate we have they need to be covered!

Isn’t there a long running rumour that a fleet of new electric buses were going to be bought? Hence why I asked about the buses.

@jrb Might be worth getting some pics of the ‘old’ City Square and North Stand as they may be starting the initial groundworks over spring. Even pics of the club shop, inside and out, since it’s being knocked down for good in the summer.

I haven’t heard anything, but I’ve stated several times it’s the most realistic option to get large amounts of people away quickly and cheaply with minimal infrastructure . Think about 200 modern electric buses and how little space they take up on the roads taking 20,000 people away to various towns and remote parking hubs. Compared to around 7 to 8000 cars doing the same thing, the majority of which aren’t going to be electric any time soon.

Trouble is the thousands walking down the middle of Ashton New Road slows all transport down to 3mph.
