This has been on the cards for years hasn't it?
Be good to see some updated plans.

I was amazing to see how much regenerations is going on over at Victoria (not a few hundred million, more like a few billion).
Constantly surprised at the amount of projects and city's growth.

Tempered a little by the aforementioned lack of affordable rents/housing in many areas (which isn't unique to Manchester but it is a pricy city).

Why oh why can't some real thoughts and urban design land on the arse end of the Arndale/Piccadilly Gardens area.
It's a real let down that's also very central (and some of the first pockets of Manchester train visitors see from out main train station).

Will never be nice round there while the busses terminate.
 
Just wondering, is there any potential to expand beyond the 59-63000 seats the north stand expansion would bring? Or would it be too expensive/unfeasible from a technical point of view?

Any substantial expansion over and above the current planned one would require the East and West stands to have an additional tier which would be a big challenge and also involved a large expense the issue is the roof design, ad the stadium was never designed for expansion

I think the little we've seen (whether official or not) the plan may be to expand the 3rd tiers back on the E & W stands with a new roof. Due to the slant of the steelwork that goes up the middle of the spirals it does give them a few more thousands of seats and would perhaps involve a wrap around the outside of the spirals.

Edit: whether it's financially viable is a different story entirely.

Don’t see how a new roof could be built without stadium closure
 
Does anyone know if City will be doing anyhing better than the frankly pathetic relocation of the Summerbee bar down to 1 portakabin unit on the East Stand. There's no cover from the elements at all and last time I looked we are still located in rainy Manchester rather than the Canary Islands !

Not sure what they can do till the new stand and extentions are complete ! The only stand with room for a similar bar is south stand level one which has already been fitted out as a new bar facility !
