Missing a trick IMHO The design of the stadium means any changes are always more expensive than a standard expansion the roof being the biggest issue having to work around the cable net It is a brilliant design but built on a relatively small budget funded mainly from SE lottery money

How do you know it’s “what they wanted to do”

City have the option to buy the stadium out right so they could have easily negotiated with SE if necessary

It was stated on here from people in the know I seem to remember. We might have the option to buy it outright now, but it's 22 years since we moved in and that wasn't an option. Seb Coe is still spitting blood that we lost the running track to lower the pitch.

Edit: I meant to say 17 years since the Sheikh bought us.

Bottle necks of fans all queuing up behind each other, all around the grounds of the stadium, just to walk somewhere that puddles deeper than their toes weren’t an issue.

Some of the puddles around the ground must be 200 sq ft.

I know it's what they wanted to do because the architect commissioned to prepare proofs of concept for new stadiums was my neighbour. As @Centurions said, Sport England stopped us as I believe they have a convenant or other legal clause in the lease which allows them.

However I seem to recall that lapses after 25 years so in 2027 or 2028 we might have the right to buy it. Not sure about that though.

NEC and southern venues seems to get all the big stuff Coventry was a good venue to be fair. Must be a gap in the market for something similar to NEC focused on business rather than concerts in Manchester. Don’t know how big it could be presume would have to be a lot smaller than NEC

I get your point, but don't confuse London with the South. We are on the south coast but two hours by rail and more by car from London, and three to four hours to West Devon and Cornwall, and we get none of the big stuff either

I thought that the City Council owns the stadium, but if it is demolished the original grant will have to be repaid to Sports England in full.

The option to build a new stadium elsewhere on the Campus remains open but that would entail doing a Goodison and keeping the the existing stadium (perhaps downsized?) for the Women’s team or a new Rugby League venture.

I imagine it’s the club who own the grounds of the stadium and are responsible for their upkeep, like a supermarket is with their car parks.

It’s standing puddles on uneven ground, it’s not like it’s overflowing drains. I suppose it’s up to the club to get a contract with a building company to design the grounds better (angle the floors in a manner that doesn’t create huge puddles).

It has been a problem (especially out the back of the East Stand) since 2003, so it’s long overdue.

It’s a fairly elementary issue.

Paved areas show not be flat. They should be ‘laid to falls’ and must have a drain gully at the bottom of each low point.

If they try an lay the paved areas flat you will always get low spots developing, especially in a former mining area!
 
I've searched on here for a whie now, and unable to find anything about the official parking.

Is it pay on the day or have to prebook in the blue car park behind the North Stand?

Took me over an hour to walk back to where we park at clayton hall on wednesday due to being on crutches, so looking at something closer by.

Hope someone can help!
 
With the news that other clubs are opening hotels next to their ground, this hotel will be open for Euro28

The hotel is the building nearest in the photo

This club are also expanding there extreme sports with a climbing wall and dive centre, they already have the roof walk and F1 drive at the stadium

I googled this and found a recent article by Spursweb: Tottenham Hotspur have long held plans to build a hotel next to their stadium, but work has yet to commence on the ambitious project.

Very true, but there was as much coming through the South Stand roof !
