Shocked by the scale of the hub, the design, outside of our own training ground plans.

Looks like we have also acquired land across Grey Mare Lane (behind new library) judging by the football pitches on the plans?

Also, the old Grey Mare Lane police HQ (now vacant), appears as though we have also purchased this for commercial office space?

I like how the hub is split across the main Alan Turing Way, should be pleasing on the eye before visitors even start to come across the actual training facility footprint.

These pitches are already there TH. They're part of the new school.

Going to be fascinating to watch this area develop. I remember going to COMS in the early days and it felt like a barren wasteland. Hurt the atmosphere IMO and felt bizarre walking up to the ground

I agree.

Just hope the existing locals have enough pride in it not to let it become an eye-sore very quickly.

It's an unfair and gross generalisation, and only education ultimately changes a mindset, but shitting on your own doorstep cannot be ruled out.

Plenty youngsters will know no different, considering the environment they have become accustomed to?

-- Wed Sep 05, 2012 9:57 am --

Cheers, not seen them or the school mate.

My matchday routine consists of walking up from the bottom of Grey Mare Lane via Police station.

The new library sticks out like a sore thumb, at present, but it's pleasing on the eye, and is obviously going to be joined by the rest of this hub.

Is the market at the bottom of Grey Mare Lane for the chop?

The new school is The East Manchester Academy. The library is in the school building!

Re: Etihad Campus & potential new stadium

I viewed this yesterday on a 'smartarsephone' and couldn't quite work out the road plan.
I agree that splitting Alan Turing way like this will make a fantastic entrance to the academy and stadium (and eventual collar site)...it's pretty barren around those parts, so pleased something on this scale is planned.

On a side note:
Project Tomorrow.
'Alan Turing' way.
Apple?
