I've just noticed that included in Peter Bradshaw's title is "Head of.....Infrastructure Development".

I assume (wrongly perhaps) that since the re-organisation of the executive structure, with a new CEO etc. there is no longer an Executive Leadership team that included amongst others Brian Marwood and Vickie Kloss. It used to be included in the Corporate information section on the os, but I can't see it there anymore. Anyway, I thought that Jon Stemp was Chief Infrastructure Officer and part of that Leadership team and the building of the new facilty was his remit. He is still around as I actually saw him down at the main entrance in to the site on Ashton New Road a couple of hours before the game yesterday. Does anyone know if he has also been moved sideways, akin to Marwood, and is now overseen by Bradshaw or that I've got it completely wrong as usual?!

Pete Bradshaw has been Head of Infrastructure since we moved to the new stadium in 2003. He is also Head of Corporate Responsibilty for the club.

Ah right. So he's been around from the start and oversaw the changes in the stadium from the Commowealth Games guise to the current one. Jon Stemp was brought in by the owners to sort out the Ewen Fields upgrade and all future infrastructure schemes. ?????

Pete is very much hands on in the new and old infrastructure development. Jon Stemp is the board member appointed by the Shiekh to oversee the exsisting infrastructure upgrades and new developments along side Pete.

There are still 2 cranes on site and not the 4 reported. Plenty of activity Saturday and Sunday. There is a new information centre opposite ASDA. Don't know if it's open yet. A few pictures of the Metrolink trams passing the Etihad stop. Ghost testing.

I think I read that the training centre was due to open in Summer 2014.

Is that true? Just 18 months away. That's some going. I'm getting used to construction projects in the UK taking years

Went somewhere different for a pre-match pint yesterday which involved us walking down Clayton Lane so I got a good view of how everything is coming along. Even though it was a Sunday, there was plenty of work going on so they're definitely not hanging around on this and I'd expect the targeted completion date of summer 2014 will be easily achievable.

It's fascinating seeing the sheer size of the place and while events on the pitch are what tends to grab the attention of the fans, I'm equally excited about the training complex and academy and it'll be interesting to see it taking shape over the coming months. When you consider how much the Platt Lane facility was bigged up in the past, this is on a different level altogether and it'll be amusing to see the looks on the faces of fans (and managers) of rival clubs when it slowly dawns on them that this will knock anything else in this country into a cocked hat.

Re: Etihad Campus & potential new stadium

This is where the tram crosses Ashton New Road going up to cross Croft St (Near where the Derby Arms used to be).

The fence shown in the image grab from google maps has now gone. Beffore and after today's Liverpool match This was being used as a cut through to Croft St. and people were all over the tramway. I can see this as a potential accident area. The side areas are gravel and could have been paved and made wider, because for such a short section you're not going to stop people cutting through.

There will be less people going through here a) when trams start to carry passengers, b) when it's extended to Ashton and c) If there is a route through the campus onto Clayton Lane.

Oh, and I didn't see anyone monitoring this area as there was at a road junction further up the road.

Jon Stemp won't be moved.

He is here for the duration.

If you speak to Jon Stemp you will understand why.

Not only that, he has been in charge of numerous projects in Abu Dhabi, hence being given the City job.

Metrolink arrives in Droylsden next week

4 Feb 2013, 11:30

David McCourt

Metrolink services on the new 3.9-mile section to Droylsden will open to the public on Monday 11 February.

The new line will serve eight new stops: New Islington, Holt Town, Etihad Campus, Velopark, Clayton Hall, Edge Lane, Cemetery Road and Droylsden.

Journeys from Manchester Piccadilly to Droylsden will run every 12 minutes, taking around 20 minutes to complete.

Leading up to the launch, residents living next to the route will be able to use the line for free. Those who have received an invitation by post may travel between Friday 8 February and Sunday 10 February.

Households in the catchment areas agreed with Manchester City Council and Tameside Council will be sent their invitations in the coming days.

Cllr Andrew Fender, chairman of the Transport for Greater Manchester Committee, which oversees the Metrolink network, said: "I want to thank the people of Manchester and Tameside for their patience. I am in no doubt that Metrolink will be of huge benefit to residents and businesses in both areas."

Cllr Kieran Quinn, Tameside Council executive leader said: "Monday 11 February is the date I and many others have been looking forward to for four years because that's when we can finally put all the disruption and turmoil behind us once and for all.

"Of course the good news doesn't end there because the line to Ashton is continuing at a pace and is set for completion this year, which will offer a further boost to the town's economy.

"I am particularly proud of TfGM's free travel offer because it's in recognition of all the hard negotiations the six Droylsden councillors carried out with Metrolink on our ward residents' behalf."

Cllr Nigel Murphy, Manchester City Council's executive member for the environment, said: "The new Droylsden line will make it easier for people to access jobs and other opportunities in Manchester city centre, as well as all the exciting sports and community facilities which will open soon near the Etihad stadium."

The new services will run from the existing Metrolink stop at Manchester Piccadilly through Ancoats, New Islington and Beswick and East Manchester.

The line will run under Great Ancoats Street, through Holt Town towards Etihad Campus and the Velodrome.

From here, between Clayton and Droylsden the line will run on-street along Ashton New Road and Manchester Road.

Tickets to any of the stops in Manchester city centre will start at £3.40 for a peak anytime single from the Droylsden and Cemetery Road stops and £2.40 from the Edge Lane and New Islington stops.

An anytime peak return ticket will cost £5.40 from the Droylsden and Cemetery Road stops and £3.70 from the Edge Lane and New Islington stops.

The line to Droylsden is already being extended by a further 2.3 miles to Ashton-under-Lyne town centre, providing additional stops at Audenshaw, Ashton Moss, Ashton West and Ashton-Under-Lyne. This section is due to open in winter 2013/14.

Etihad Airways doing well.

Business Desk Nort West.

MIDDLE East airline Etihad, which operates two daily flights from Manchester and is the major sponsor of Manchester City FC, has hailed a successful 2012, which saw profits soaring and passenger numbers passing 10 million for the first time.

The Abu Dhabi-based carrier said its Manchester-based European customer contact centre - which was opened 12 months ago - had made a good contribution already.

The call centre employs more than 190 staff and has answered almost half a million calls in 18 markets in nine languages since opening, generating more than $20m in revenue.

James Hogan, president and chief executive said: “This has been a game-changing year for Etihad Airways. We have delivered improved net profit, the second consecutive year we have been in the black, a remarkable achievement given the youth, ambitious growth and ongoing investment made by this airline in a challenging global economic environment.

“We have taken great strides in building the industry's first 'equity alliance', with our investments in airberlin, Air Seychelles, Virgin Australia and Aer Lingus, which are contributing significant value to our business."

Earnings before interest and tax (EBIT) rose 24% to $170m. Revenues climbed to $4.8bn from $4.1bn in 2011.
