Re: Etihad Campus & potential new stadium

jrb - the marquee is for the player of the year next week if I understand correctly. Apparently demand is too high to hold inside the ground.

Can't find it on their site, but the MEN has an article tucked well inside today.

Says we have applied to incorporate three streets close to Asda into the campus site?

...Let the Asda rumours begin in earnest again!

Think Russian Pete has posted the link on 'mytwits'...will see if I can drop it here...

-- Wed Apr 25, 2012 1:35 pm --

Here we are:

Exclusive: Four eye up Manchester City £65m training facilities

27 April, 2012 | By Tom Fitzpatrick

Carillion, Laing O’Rourke, Bam Construct and Bowmer&Kirkland are all eying up bids for Manchester City’s new world-class training facilities, CN understands.

The mega rich Premiership club has submitted plans for 15 pitches and a 7,000 seat stadium as part of a youth development and training centre to sit opposite their Etihad Stadium.

The plans include 11 full size youth development pitches and four full size first team pitches, along with a 7,000 capacity stadium for youth matches (click here for a flyover video).

A source told CN that the job was now being estimated at around £65m, rather than the original £100m estimate, with more than 150 construction jobs created as a result.

The club is set to face-off against bitter city rivals Manchester United on Monday as it seeks its first Premiership crown, aided by substantial investment from the club’s owner for the past three years, Sheikh Mansour.

The plans include:

One half size and 11 full size youth development pitches
One half size and 4 full size first team pitches
On-site sleeping accommodation and classroom facility for 40 young players to allow them to train and study in a safe and secure environment
A first team building with changing rooms, gym, refectory and injury and rehab centre
A 7,000 capacity stadium for youth matches
Staff offices and a dedicated media centre
A bridge linking the site to the Etihad Stadium and the rest of the Etihad Campus

Re: Etihad Campus & potential new stadium

Wonder what (if anything) they're downgrading/dropping to snip £35 million from the cost...hope the bridge hasn't been lost!?

If that was the cost of the bridge then I hope they are. That's one maga signing in my book.
