The training complex. Not inc the college or bridge

-- Tue Jun 12, 2012 12:28 pm --

Think Ajax have a bridge, for away fans .

^^ Is that was this bridge is for? I noticed (and was told by someone at the training complex exhibition) that there will be another 'fan zone' on the training side (you can see it as 'plaza' on the plans) - wondering if this is for the away fans...

No i was talking about the Ajax stadium in Amsterdam.

Yes - the Ajax reference gave that away :)
What I meant was that it might be possible that the new plaza listed on the plans and linked to the bridge will be for away fans as per the likes of Ajax perhaps?

Re: Etihad Campus & potential new stadium

I've been told there are only two bids fighting it out. The first is by the same company who built St Georges Park. <a class="postlink" href="http://www.thefa.com/St-Georges-Park" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.thefa.com/St-Georges-Park</a>
Who are apparently going ''all out'' to make it happen. The bids have been in for a while now. Marco your bid seems a bit late bud.

Could you tell us the name of your company?

...that National Stadium in Warsaw looked pretty special on the box this evening...

Re: Etihad Campus & potential new stadium

I haven't kept up with every post on the thread. So sorry if it's been posted before I suspect it has been as it's dated 1st May..

<a class="postlink" href="http://www.constructionenquirer.com/2012/05/01/four-left-in-semis-for-new-man-city-academy/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.constructionenquirer.com/201 ... y-academy/</a>

Four left in semis for new Man City academy

Tue 1st May | 7:20

Four contractors are fighting-it out to build a new training academy for Manchester City’s youth team.

Construction information specialist Glenigan said Carillion, Bam, Laing O’Rourke and Bowmer & Kirkland are the semi-finalists in the race for the high-profile job.

City chiefs are keen to bring more players through the ranks with the training academy seen as a vital part of the club’s progress following last night’s 1-0 win over Manchester United in a victory which now makes them title favourites.

The academy plans were originally priced at £100m but current estimates are for the contract to be worth around half that.

Plans at the site on land next to the Etihad stadium include:

A home for up to 400 young players who will train and study alongside senior players, with a clear development pathway to the first team
One half size and 11 full size youth development pitches
One half size and 4 full size first team pitches
On site sleeping accommodation and classroom facility for 40 young players to allow them to train and study in a safe and secure environment
A carefully planned first team building with changing rooms, gym, refectory and injury and rehab centre
A 7,000 capacity stadium for youth matches
Staff offices and a dedicated media centre
A bridge linking the site to the Etihad Stadium and the rest of the Etihad Campus

Re: Etihad Campus & potential new stadium

That St George's Park doesn't look that far removed from what's going on here.

That construction enquirer story lists the cost at around £50 million, where as the latest figures banded around were £170 million...god knows how or why these figures are being so wildy fluctuated.

Because the final cost will end up around £170m despite being a £50m contract if my local builder is anything to go by..

I think it may be as simple that the contract is not for the entire site. There are other things mooted including leisure, entertainment and a new school/sixth form?

And what about costs to make the site ready?, we have been looking at muddy holes for a time now which ain´t cheap I guess.
