Etihad Stadium to host 5 Euro 2028 games

Are those capacity stats estimates or actuals based on segregation and advertising etc

Some seem a bit low (ours, Newcastle) whereas Villa looks too high.

Villa are starting an expansion to 50k next year to be ready for early 2028 so Villa is also listed 2k lower.

Not that arsed as I've been to the Etihad a few hundred times. Might be interested in a game at Hampden though as I've never been there. Sources suggest it's the worst major ground in Scotland for parking though.
Me neither, I went to the England v Iceland Game at our ground in 2004 (jeez didnt realise that long ago) and I've watched England at Wembley a couple of times - NO ATMOSPHERE AT ALL at any of them games, garbage!

I'm glad the euros are here. The English influence annoys me. It's a joint bid and it does have the stadiums, but I'd have played the final at Hampden or the millennium stadium as a thank you to those nations and Wembley could have opened it.

Also the farce of the funding for a new UEFA standard stadium in Belfast is an embarrassment to the bid.

I also have concerns about the public transport network. Mainly the railways. Euros 96 my company at the time were only sending two car trains to Manchester when Scotland played at the swamp and could see that kind of fuckkery occuring again.

A few pints in the Horseshoe Bar and a train from Central Station

A couple of pints in town and train to Hampden seems a good idea but not if I'm coming back to Manchester after the game and public transport isn't being strengthened.

Gabby Agbonli(something) on Talksport doesn't understand the Etihad inclusion.
St James yes. Villa Park yes.

I thought Villa put the expansion plans on hold a year or two back. I didn't know they were back on track.
Think Villa scaled the plans back and are going ahead with a much cheaper option?

Did he bother explaining why he thought that? I'll take a wild guess...

Watching SSN last night the yellow rolling bar gave a lot of details about who what and where the games would be at ,but no mention of games at City.I assume that was just an oversight...yeah right

Hampden for the final, do me a favour it is a truly dreadful stadium, Cardiff I would have no problem with at all.

They all look to be 2 or 3000 less than the real capacity. Got to leave space for journos and pundits from all over Europe.
In domestic games there are approximately 50,000 City fans and 3,000 away fans and we lose capacity due to segregation of 3,000 fans. At an international tournament segregation is going to be on a different scale. That's probably a factor in addition to increased media access. It's difficult to know how large followings for each side will impact segregation as you might be able to organise it such that one side has one stand.

Scotland didn’t play at old trafford in Euro 96. Played us at Wembley and other 2 group games at villa park.

Excellent news that.

Just reading about the tickets though, I trust we will take a leaf out of Scotland’s Commonwealth Games 2026 book, and offer first dibs to those with a Manchester postcode, second dibs to those with an English one, and last in line, the rest of Europe including Scotland, Wales and Ireland.
And Merseyside

Or are you correctly totally omitting them from the process in which case I stand corrected

If I think how Manchester will be seen in 2028, I can think of many characteristics, e.g., people, football, history but visually Manchester's skyline is now striking and unique. By 2028, Viadux2 might be at its full height. It's due to complete in 2031 so that's my guess.

Kinder Scout is the highest mountain (636m above sea level) in the Peak District (actually an ancient sea-cliff, formed 320m years ago in the Carboniferous. In that period, oxygen levels were up to 35% of the atmosphere compared to 21% today. That should give environmentalists something to ponder as they think about gases in ppm). Hayfield, a nearby village, is 278m above sea-level, so I can say that the local height of Kinder is 358m. Viadux 2 will be 246m (Beetham Tower, 169 m). Imagine a skyscraper 2/3 of the elevation of the Peak district's highest peak. That will be Manchester in the near future. I expect some UK cities will follow. The motivation is probably money for property developers, and I don't like that they co-exist with poverty and drugs, however in their shadows, at night, sunrise and sunset, they look stunning.

Didn't see it but there's 9 grounds (including Wembley) being used, I'd hazard a guess that they didn't name 8 and miss just us out?

If you care to see how much this news has hurt the Scum read the Simon Stone, quite ridiculous puff-piece on the BBC site this morning. The scum have revolutionised football organisation off the pitch don’t you know. Remember as you read that if you pay a TV licence you have contributed to the bilge.
